CHAPTER 13: THE PLANT

Awkwardly sitting there on the couch while watching the chimney on fire, I risked my everything to glance at Eric, who was sitting like a king on the adjacent long sofa.

I should've just gone home.

"What are you thinking?" He asked.

His hand holds a golden liquor, sipping it from time to time. Staring at my soul for the whole time, and burning me with his glazed eyes.

"No-- nothing," I stuttered.

"Why did you get in his car?"

Paused for a moment, I bit my lower lip and told him the truth. "I didn't have my wallet with me, so I couldn't haul a cab."

"Why did you leave the restaurant?"

Frowning from the shower of questions, I once again glanced at him. And it was a wrong move, I got imprisoned by his glare. It's piercing and killing me.

"I'm asking you a question, baby. Answer," he demanded.

"Well..." Isn't still sure of what to say, I began fumbling my fingers that sat above my lap. Sitting there like a ballerina with a broken spine. "My ego was-- well-- being very unreasonable."
