We tried to locate Gail's relatives after Eugene said his goodbyes to her. But, according to what we found, Gail had not communicated with any of her relatives in a long time. We also had no idea where to look for them, so Eugene decided to hold a small and private funeral for Gail.
I walked over to Gail's coffin and placed the white flower I was holding. I smiled when I saw her resting peacefully; she seems to be happy and satisfied right now... When a light breeze blows against my skin, I close my eyes and feel it... It's a very soothing wind, like a goodbye hug from her.
"Goodbye Gail, even though we've only been together for a short time, I won't forget you; don't worry okay? I'll look after them." I said for the last time.
----
Things happened so quickly, and now we're in the Baby ward, where Eugene's two baby boys are. I rubbed his back as he began to cry, holding the glass and looking at the twins steadily. I looked up, wiped away my tears, and asked the nurse if we could see the twins more closely.
"Yes, Ma'am, it's all right. Come in and put on a hospital gown, hairnet, and disinfect well before the two of you can wait in the other room." I nodded and smiled.
"Are you alright? Come here first and put this on so we can get close to them," I said as I helped him in putting on the robe.
"Look how incredibly tiny they are," he said, breaking down in tears, staring intently at the nurse who was already taking one of the twins. I shook my head and finished disinfecting.
"Even your own cuteness is nothing, especially when compared to any of them at all," I joked before laughing when I noticed him pouting while putting an alcoholic drink in his hand.
"It's as if you're making me look like I'm not cute enough though," he said, jokingly hitting my shoulders and acting like a child once more.
"You're cute, but you're not really that cute," I shrugged my shoulders and drew him in, ignoring how his face frowned even more.
After following all of the nurse instructions, we entered the waiting room and sat on the sofa, eagerly awaiting the two nurses who would bring the twins to us. Eugene's hand was trembling in excitement, so I patted it to try to relax him.
"Calm down, you might die from excitement like that," I teased him.
He simply replied with a smirk that made me laugh. I'm excited to see the babies as well, so I immediately stand up when the door opens.
"Here are your two beautiful Baby boys," the nurse at the hospital exclaimed joyfully.
I approached one of the newborn babies and touched his small hand. I silently squeal when I feel the softness of his skin; I'm actually afraid that he'll break while I'm holding him like this.
Eugene was just staring at one of the twins when I walked close to him and gave him a heartfelt smile encouraging him to hold his child.
"Hold him, he's waiting for his Daddy," I would have said that normally, but my voice began to tremble and it sounded so emotional.
It's just a very touching feeling seeing these two tiny boys; they've always had a special place in our hearts since the very first time we saw them, but having the opportunity to hold them like this... It is becoming clear that they will be a part of our lives from now on.
"Hi kids, D-Daddy is here..." his voice started to tremble as he caressed both babies. I couldn't take my eyes away from the three of them.
Seeing Eugene finally meet his sons is a priceless memory... It's very moving to see the three of them. I hope Gail is looking at them right now and seeing how she made Eugene happy.
Eugene now has a reason to live happily thanks to Gail.
"Excuse Mr. and Mrs. What are you going to name them? You need to fill out these papers," the nurse said as she handed the two papers to us.
"Have you thought about what to name them?" I asked, he nodded and sat on the sofa while holding the papers.
"Thor and Loki," I smacked him on the shoulder after hearing those names.
"Are you serious, Eugene? Your sons will be furious with you in the future for naming them like that! " I laugh, but he lightly taps me on the forehead with a pen.
"Thoreus Clark and Lokieus Clark," he said, referring to the twins' full names.
After hearing the names, my mouth forms an o. I had no idea he could come up with such lovely names.
"But it's too difficult to spell," I sigh, looking at the twins. "Pedro and Penduko sound cute, and it's simple to write," I shrug.
When he laughs loudly while shaking his head, I raise my brows.
"Did you hear that Loki, Thor? Thank me in the future because I'm the one who named you and not your Mommy. "
Mommy?
I was too stunned to look at him. He tilted his head and kissed my head, which added to my surprise. He ends up looking me in the eyes and gives me a serious look.
"Gail and You are the only women who can be their moms. Thank you so much, Laura... Thank you so much. " he said softly to me.
When I saw the nurses' fluttered faces, I felt my entire face heat up so I pushed him away.
"All right, all right," I jokingly pushed his face away and walked closer to the twins to hide the tears in my eyes and my racing heart.
When I saw the twins up close again, I immediately smiled. So, I'm the mother of these two children. I'm incredibly happy.
I never expected to feel this much happiness in my entire life. When I looked behind me, Eugene was standing close to me.
"This is Thor," Eugene gently pressed Thor's cheek, who was already sleeping beside his twin.
"And this is Loki," Eugene said as he stroked Loki's foot. I laughed when Loki kicked his hand away; he clearly inherited his father's snobbishness.
Uge handed the paper to the two nurses, who simply greeted us with congratulations and left with the twins. We can't bring them now, but they'll be released tomorrow.
When Eugene and I were left alone, the room fell silent. I sneezed and turned to face him, but I quickly backed away when I realized how close we were.
"Shall we go?" I asked, a little awkwardly.
"Are you going to leave us?" he asked abruptly.
"What kind of question is that? Of course not." I replied, he then smiled and scratched his neck.
"Eugene I will not leave, I promise you didn't I? I will stay with you and the twin " I assure him and hold his hand.
"I'm sorry for shamelessly asking you that. I'm just afraid that you'll leave us behind, because you have no obligation to us. I'm so selfish because I'm making you stay- "
"Eugene stop. I would be really angry if you said that. Haven't we already talked about this? .I decided it for myself, so don't blame yourself or say sorry to me, I have a right to choose whatever I like and here is what I chose. I chose to be with you in raising Thor and Loki. .you don't know how happy I am to be their Mommy. '' I said with a smile and tried to reach her cheek to wipe away her tears. He took my hand that was on his cheek and looked straight into my eyes.
"I promise I'll be a good Daddy and...- your boss and bestfriend" I laughed and nodded before walking away from him.
When I felt a pain after hearing what he said, I bitterly smiled to myself, our relationship being him as my boss and me as his best friend will not change.
I'm embarrassed because, like a desperate woman, I was expecting a label. I heaved a sigh, trying not to think about it. I need to remind myself that my role in their lives is a mere substitute, nothing more, nothing less.
When we arrive at the unit, it's almost twelve o'clock. We didn't want to be away from the kids for too long, so we waited until visiting hours were over before heading to the office. Eugene needed to sign some important documents so he wouldn't have to go to work the next day. Finally, the twins will be released tomorrow."You should get some rest, Eugene," I said as I tapped him on the back. "I'll just prepare everything we need to bring tomorrow and then go to bed," I said as I approached the twins' bedroom door.Because we were unaware that they were twins, the clothes I brought to the hospital were insufficient. Everything was only meant for one person. It's a good thing that the clothes I ordered last night arrived today so the twins can wear a matchy outfit tomorrow. "Let me do it, I know you're tired." he offered worriedly, I just shook my head trying to fight the drowsiness.I pushed his arms away when he began shaking my shoulders and gently pushing me into the room."But I
"Are you nervous?" I asked, pointing to his ear."Why should I be nervous?" he grumbled as he pulled into the hospital parking lot."You're blushing, which is why I'm asking if I ever make your heart flutter because I said I wouldn't leave you," I teased him further. When he properly parked the car, I laughed and unbuckled my seatbelt."Don't tease me too much because I might fall for you,"When I didn't hear what Eugene said, I quickly turned to him, but he hurried out of the car.I quickly got out and went to the back of the car, where he was. What did he say? I haven't heard much."Hey! What did you say earlier? I didn't hear you," I asked as I assisted him in lifting the baby basket into which the twins would be placed later."No, it's your fault you're beautiful but didn't clean your ears," he teased as he pinched my nose.He walked away, closing the compartment. I quickly followed him. When we arrived at the nurse station, a lady nurse approached Eugene right away."Hi Sir, may
I got up on the bed when I heard the baby crying; I didn't know who he was at first, so I just picked him up and tried to make him stop crying. Later, I realized it was Loki who was crying."Why is the baby crying?" I asked, swaying my body slowly. When Eugene returned to my room, he looked at us with worry. He started to walk closer to us to check on Loki, but Thor's loud cry startled him, and he dashed to the other crib."Hey... what happened, hm? Daddy is here," he said sweetly as he carefully lifted Thor."We'll need to clean their bodies later so they can sleep comfortably," I said, noticing the twins' loaded diapers. He approached me while holding Thor in his arms. We're now facing each other, holding the twins. I smiled when I noticed he couldn't take his eyes off Loki. He can't decide who is going to look first."I think they're starving," Eugene stated. While still holding Loki in my arms, I nodded and walked over to the milk formula and bottle on the other side of the bed.H
"I forgot to tell you that we don't have to go to work for a week," my brow furrowed."What do you mean? Is that all right?" I asked, and he shrugged."I'm the Boss, Laura. I can do whatever I want," he said trying to be arrogantly, I just laugh at his face. "OK, Sir," I said quietly as I stared at him, but Eugene just laughed and finished his coffee."And there's an agency that can help us with the babysitter," he said, which surprised me.When did he do that, exactly?"That's really quick, but please make sure they can be trusted.""That's why we've taken a week off work. The two helpers will arrive later at lunch, we'll monitor them for a week, and if they're good, we'll be more reassured." "He explained to me in a serious tone, assuring me that he will not 'just choose the person' and that children's lives would be put at risk."But I couldn't help but worry. I've read a lot about how bad things can happen when a child is left with someone else. My heart skipped a beat when I fel
"Oh my gosh!" she exclaimed in surprise after I dropped the folder on the office table. I looked up at her."If you don't have anything important to report right now, you can leave," I said sternly. I could see her confusion and nervousness on her face as she turned around. "And, next time," I said as she turned around, "don't spread any humor if you don't know what happened; if you don't respect other people, just think of your job; you didn't want to lose your job, did you?"I ignored our age difference. I knew she was older than me and that I should respect her... But why should I respect someone unworthy of it?"I'm sorry, Ma'am. Laura! I'm sorry, I can't do it again," she said. She is now facing my table and constantly bowing her head."Don't apologize to me; I'm not the victim of your gossip.""Ma'am..." she said nervously, and I just smiled at her while making a sarcastic face in front of her so she knows I'm pissed right now."I'm just telling you that you should apologize to
I've been out of work for three years. I did everything I could to make the kids and Eugene happy during those three years. Nothing special has changed in our relationship.I'm not sure if he has feelings for me, but based on his actions and sweet words, it appears that he does. I'm not sure, despite how sweet and gentle he is to me if we don't give a label on our relationship. That's nonsense. Our relationship has been fine for the past few years; we haven't hidden anything from each other, but in the last few days... Eugene's strange and secretive demeanor catches my attention. It appears that something is going on that he does not want me to know about."Ma'am, you're already awake? Oh, you also cook breakfast; I'm sorry I woke up late; I didn't realize you'd wake up early," Perla apologized when she noticed me sitting in front of the dining table."No, it's fine, I just woke up earlier than usual," I say, smiling and averting my gaze as I notice her eyes on me."Sir didn't come h
"Daddy!"When they notice their father, the twins shout in perfect harmony. They've both become energized now that their father has arrived.I didn't look up to him; instead, I let the kids call him while I cleaned the spaghetti sauce splattered on the floor to keep myself occupied so I wouldn't have to talk to him."Hello boys, how's it going? Wow, Jollibee!" he said to the twins as he played with their hands. When he approaches the twins to kiss them on the cheeks, I take a step backward."Mommy gave this to me and Loki, Daddy," Thor tried to explain; he and his twin were not very good at speaking in long sentences, but they tried very hard when they did."Oh wow, did you say thank you?" he asked, wiping Loki's cheeks with the remaining sauce."Did we?" Loki asks, his face serious. I couldn't help but smile as I watched Loki's bemused expression when he asked Thor for help. Eventually, they don't remember anything and suddenly stand up."Awe!" I uttered in joy as they wrapped their
When I walked out of the room, I noticed him standing outside, and when he looked at me, his eyes were drawn to my hand. I was carrying two large bags containing my belongings. Before he sat on the sofa, I heard him click his tongue and stare at the luggage I was carrying."So you're leaving," he said coldly, shrugging his shoulders."Well, it's been years; just close the door when you leave," he said sternly, it's like he's talking to a total stranger. Is it because he doesn't care about the years we've spent together that he can tell me to leave like nothing? That's so cruel of him.I took a big step away from him, tightening my grip on my bag. I went straight to the twins' room and quietly entered to say my goodbyes. But when I finally saw them, I dropped my bags as soon as I shut the door.I approached the bed slowly and noticed them sleeping in each other's arms. When I began sobbing, I covered my mouth to avoid making any noise. Looking at their faces made my lips quiver. When t
