There she went again, dismissing me like I was nothing because Harland showed his face.

There she went again, acting like I wasn't her child and that only Harland existed.

There she went again, casting me aside because her golden goose was home.

But what Mariland didn't anticipate was those words out of Harland's mouth.

"What... What are you talking about, Harland? I'm your mother." She choked out. Let her eyes slide toward Keagan, who was equally pale. Nervous.

How does it feel, mother, to know that the daughter you tried to shove away was the only child you truly had?

Maybe I envied Harland a bit because of it. He possibly had other parents out there who would love him for him. Who wouldn't traumatize him the way my parents had traumatized me.
