CHAPTER 1
My name’s Charity Goldtown, I’m a 17-year-old 5’6 sink black straight haired light brown skinned girl who grew up without a father nor any other family member except my mom. I know it sounds weird like who grows up without any family? but actually I did.My father died when I was still 2 and when he died my grandparents, his parents had abandoned my mom and sent her out, well that was what I was told. I know the question that just popped in your head, what about her mom’s family. My mom was an only child of pilot and a nurse, her mom the nurse had died after her birth and her father the pilot died when she was 22, his plane crashed, I know tragic right.Well I guess all that had happened in my mom’s life had made her develop immunity to pain , she never shows signs of pain or cries. One time on my birthday she sent messages to my grandparents that it was my birthday she thought they would come and instead they ignored her.My mom moved us to LA, California to start up a new life after many failed attempts at getting my grandparents to accept us back, I don’t know but I think they believe I’m not my dad’s child or something. The incidents that occurred after my dad died made my mom become a single mom who depended on no one and fought through the world to achieve what she achieved. We moved to California when I was 4 and ever since then my mom ensured I never felt the need to seek for a family member she was all in one.Since then, she has been the one catering for me. So, she ensured she planned my entire life before I was 6 to ensure that I do not get to experience what she did. My life had its own blueprint before the owner was able to say blue print, funny right? I know it might seem like it’s too much but given what my mom had to face; she had the right to protect me from what she had seen.My life was a “pre prepared life”, my life was structured and well planned, everything in my life was written down by my mom. The school’s I would attend, the grades I would get, the completions I would have to participate in, the trophies I should bring home, the extracurricular activity I indulge in, the sport I practice, the kind of friends I make, the kind of movie I watch, the artists I listen to their music, you name it, everything was planned before I was 6.One time in middle school I choose to ignore tennis and I went for volleyball, I had been going for the practices I was one of the best players, when it was time to play for the school, somehow my mom managed to figure out and she stormed in and created a scene.“Peach! Peach!” she shouted as she gave me a terrifying look.“What in the world are you doing? you are not supposed to play volleyball till you turn 12, what are you doing” she continued while the whole class stared.“Mom I just wanted to…”“I do not want to hear it pack your things let’s leave” she concluded as I left with her.It has been like that my entire life and never have I questioned the system nor have I noticed a glitch in it. I enjoyed the system and I went with the flow, I mean the system ensured I was always the best in the everything I do.I have been like that my entire life and never have I been bothered about it until I Davis Garraway said what he said to me“You are not even my type Goblin”“You are not even my Type goblin”Those words kept ringing in my head like bells from lord Krishna’s temples would ring on a Delhi night.“Why would he say that to me?”“Why would someone say that to me?”“Charity are you not beautiful?”No baby you’re beautifula familiar voice said, yep it was my subconsciousHe just has bad taste she continuedWhat if he was right?I went towards my closet and sat in front of my mirror as I stared at the light brown skinned girl sitting in front of it, she had a pale tint of orange eyes that looked like the sun when it is setting, with a carefully drawn out pointed nose that looked like the tip of a needle. With her lips that had varied colors with the upper lip having a shiny black color, the shines where visible and the lower lip was bright pink, and had an antiblue round shaped pair of glasses on. She was beautiful…….I was still admiring myself when my mom walked into the room“Hey peach what’s wrong?” she asked as she gave me the worried look“Nothing is wrong mom nothing” I replied trying to sound as assuring as I can“It does not look like nothing, why you staring at yourself? you do not usually care about what you look like”“No reason mom I just thought I had a zit so I wanted to clarify”“A zit! Where, where show me” she jumped at me and started examining my face.“Mom, mom stop, stop” I pulled away from her “I’ve checked and I have no zit mom, see no zit” I said as I showed her my face.“Phew I know you can’t have a zit baby; my perfect little girl cannot have a zit; you are beautiful my darling and no zit can ever make its way to your pretty face”“Now get some rest peach you need all the rest you can get you had a stressful day today, get some rest my Peach”. She switched off the lights and wished me a goodnight *******************I woke up the next day feeling all rejuvenated I knew I had a glow that morning. I got up and opened up the window I saw the birds chattering.“Hey birds” I smiled as I lifted my voice and met eyes with Davis“Do you now talk to birds too, wow you keep getting better and better” he said mockingly as he laughed and left the window side. It almost infuriated me but nothing was going to ruin my day. I ignored him looked at the birds again and left the window side.“Peach, Peach!!!!!” I could hear my mom screaming from downstairs, “Peach come down come come” she continued.I ran down with curiosity eager to know what was wrong.“Peach, you got a mail today” she said excitedlyI looked at her for a while with blank look.“what’s in it?” I asked“Open it, open it” she answered I opened it and well I was accepted into Starman college.CHAPTER 2 Starman college located at the northern side of California at Oakland was founded by early scholars and it has remained prestigious and has remained the most prestigious school in the whole of California and might be the best in the whole United states. I opened the mail and guess what, yep, I got accepted into Starman college, yayyyyy, I know right, the most prestigious college in California, not like I had any doubt that I would get in I mean its Charity Goldtown, if they didn’t accept me who would they accept. I was so happy and excited, yayy I’m a star now, that’s what they call students from Starman “stars” I was still having my moment when my mom cut in “Davis got accepted too to study the same course, guess your academic rivalry continued” she said and that was a kill joy “What?” I asked and she nodded and left for work. ********* Davis was going to the same college as me, Davis! the same Davis I hated a lot. Davis Garraway had always been a painful thorn in
CHAPTER 3 The Garraways were well known in California and around the world as Mike and Stacy Garraway, renowned astronomer and CEO of the Garraway group of hotels and suite respectively were married with two kids, Davis, no need for introduction and Mitchell, a 6-year-old bright ash haired, green eyes girl who was the pride of the family. The Garraways were richer than the city’s mayor although they don’t show off, well maybe not all of them. Davis was known to buy new cars each day a new model had been released and ensured he wore nothing less than designers made by only three specific designers; Louis Vuitton, D&G and his all-time favorite Gucci. Davis had been known all over the neighborhood and he did not give a single fuck about. His parents on the other hand were mostly never around given the nature of their job and Mitchell had a nanny to look after her. Since we moved to California, the Garraways were always involved in one of our shits. Yep if anything had happened with our
Chapter 4 The morning was bright, the sun was shining so bright like it was its last day to shine. The birds were hyperactive as the sang melodious tunes and jumped through branches. I knew it was a good day. I went to the window side to get fresh air, then I saw Davis packing his bags already, he turned around and saw me staring at him. “Why are you peeping through my window goblin, go find help goblin while you still can, “this obsession you have with me is getting out of hand” he smirked and winked at me while he closed his window. “His nerves” I grunted as I shut mine He was annoyingly going to the same college I got accepted into, turns out I won’t be getting rid of Davis Garraway any time soon, yayy. I went and took my bath then I started packing. “Peach are you not done yet? we have a long trip ahead of us” my mom screamed from down stairs. “I’m almost done mom’’ I replied as I continued. ********* As soon as I finished, I quickly went down to the kitchen to have some
Chapter 5 I got out of the car and I looked up and saw it Starman college. It was as beautiful as I had imagined it was way bigger than I imagined too. This college was known to be one of the best in California like I mentioned earlier, with its recommendations and grade A teachers you were already on a path to a bountiful and respectable future if you were accepted. I stared at it for a while and I was imagining my road map to becoming the best international lawyer the world has seen when my mom spoke. “This is the big one peach, this is the big one, this is the big one” my mom said as she burst out in tears, I knew she was emotional she probably could not believe she was able to pull it off and provide me a good life. “Mom mom no no mom not this, not now” I tried to comfort her. “I know, I know, it’s just that you’ve grown up so well that I’m so proud, look at you, you are standing right in front of Starman and see you becoming the star you are fated to become already” She conti
Chapter 6My mom prepared my life’s blue print, and in the blue print one of the important details there was the kind of people I had to interact with, the kind of friends I was to make and the kind of people I should have business with. The blueprint only allowed me to mingle with the rich, the smart, straight, famous and prestigious people and anything asides that was banned. My mom had barged into my hostel room when I was just about to talk and yep it wasn’t a friendly scene.“Are these indecent girls going to share a room with you peach?” she asked me as I tried to shut her up“Who the hell are you guys” she asked while analyzing the two British girls that were in the room I got assigned to.“Um this is our room” the second girl answered in a rude tone.“Ohh no the both of you can not be in this room” my mom added“And why can’t we ma’am” the first girl asked“Cos my peach is in this room and my peach cannot be found sharing a room with you guys” she added as she pointed at them
Chapter 7Peach, the nickname my mom called me. Since I was a child, I have never heard her calling me Charity, it is always: Peach, my Peach, darling Peach. I guess the name equally made her feel she had to protect me from the world. Whenever I was found derailing from the blue print she would get mad and just transfer it all on the people around. One time in middle school I made friends with a gay girl, Bennie and my mom freaked out when she found out about it. ******“Hey you disgrace to nature; you must have deceived my Peach into becoming friends with you cos Peach does not mingle with your kind” she spoke“Mom please it was my fault, I approached her”“No Peach you do not have to defend her, I know her type and I know you” *********After that day Bennie never spoke to me again and I do not blame her, I would not speak to me too if I was in her position. Gays avoided me in middle school, in fact everyone avoided me becau
Chapter 8“Fine I’ll will go”. I got ready and we left for the party, well by ready I do not actually mean that I wore sexy clothes or anything, nope It was just mu usual hoodie and jeans.“Yuck what is that, all that” Tiffany asked as she pointed at what I was putting on“I told you; you made a mistake by inviting her” Sam added as she laughed“What are you wearing, what exactly are you wearing” Tiffany continued“I don’t know clothes?” I asked sarcastically“No, no, no, certainly no” she added as Sam continued laughing“There is no way you are going with me dressed like that, I mean you look so…...” she continued as she looked at meme awkwardly“I told you already that if I was going to go to this party then I would dress the way I like and feel comfortable in and there is nothing absolutely you can say or do to make me change my mind” I said as I gave her a fake smile.“At least pull off the hoodie and find a better top” she said“Absolutely nothing” I concluded as I looked away“Fi
Chapter 9I was already used to Davis’s bullying since we were in preschool. I mean Davis had always bullied me, he would call me ugly, break my glasses, laugh at me whenever he passed me in class, throw away my food, call me goblin, drag my hair, force me to be his slave and many more and then whenever he helped me and saved me from being bullied by others he would feel like a king who just saved his people or a hero in a movie Akshay Kumar starred, you know when Akshay saves the heroine, he has this moment where he is allowed to walk in with slow Mo and then his hair is flipped by the wind, yep that kind of scene. In high school I was made to follow him anywhere he went for 2 months just because a kid named Rolley called me goblin and then hero Davis Kumar walks in a shuns him from it then tells him only he has the right to call me goblin and that if he ever hears anyone calling me a goblin he would cut his tongue out, yep a drama queen, I had skipped a lot of classes because I was
