"You're right. Clouds!", I said, changing my tone to say the same words again. It was so strange that how the meaning changed, but the words remained the same.
An awkward silence occurred between us and I tried to break it.
"By the way, leave all this. What made you come to my cabin?", I sat on my chair and indicated him to take his seat.
He sat in front of me.
"Nothing. I was just here to check on you and—", he pulled out a pack from his pocket and put it on the table. "Your medicines. Make sure to take it after the lunch"
I looked at the medicines for a while.
"Don't you know that we're having lunch together today?", I said as he frowned.
"No, when did we make this plan?", he rolled his eyes.
"Do you plan anything before having your lunch with Nikhat?", I asked him straight and immediately regret at the words I just spoke. He gawked at me in disbelief.
"Nikhat? Zoya, you—", he mumbled as I immediately crack
ZoyaI walked out of the cabin, locking my hand with Abrar's arm. I saw abbu coming inside with Mr. Kaiser and his son following him. My eyes went straight on to Irtaza who was already looking at me, his eyes reactionless. That was what he looked like always.I didn't bother to notice his appearance and walked towards the crowd."It's been so long since you visit the office, Kaiser. I miss our partnership so much", abbu said to his loving friend."We're still partners. Aren't we?", Kaiser laughed and immediately started coughing since his old throat couldn't bear the laughter either."Yeah", abbu rubbed his back with a smile. "But we haven't worked together for a long time""We needed time, Uncle Ali", Irtaza finally spoke after he was done gazing at me. I was glad that he didn't take a glance at Abrar for once. "We needed time to overcome the bitterness"He didn't look at me but I knew he wanted to spit those words on m
Abrar"May I come in?", there was a knock at the door with Zoya's chirping voice. I was focused on the computer and didn't look up at her."From when did you need permission to come into my cabin?", I husked and heard her footsteps towards me."From today, I think", she came to my table and placed her palms on the table, leaning over me. "You're ignoring me?", her voice was filled with surprise."Huh! No. Why would I? I'm just working", I said, without lifting my head. I didn't want to involve in a conversation with her this time when there could be a chance of an argument."Then why aren't you looking at me?", she shrugged."Zoya, please", I gasped when she abruptly turned off my laptop as I shot her an immediate glare."What the hell!", I scoffed, finding her gazing at me with her furious eyes."If I'm in front of you, your attention should be on me. Only on me, Mr. Abrar Zafar. This is the last time I'm telling
ZoyaHow dare he? How could he just behave like that to me? How?My head was pounding from the moment I came out of Abrar's cabin. His damn attitude pissed me off.I, the Zoya Ali, who never pleaded or requested to anyone, who never cared what people thought about me, who never explained to anyone literally requested to him. And what the heck had he done with me? Showed his stupid attitude!I grabbed the vase from the desk and clutched it tight, closing my eyes to absorb whatever he said to me.We had nothing between us!Wow!That was another gift from Mr. Abrar Zafar to me. He made it clear that he was still sticking to his ex. And I was nothing to him. I let out deep sighs before opening my eyes again. My nerves stopped shaking, my heartbeats went normal as I felt immense sadness filling inside me more than anger."Liar!" I gritted my teeth and looked aside at the curtain, he was on the opposite side. "Such a liar you are!"
Zoya"What?", I blurted out when Kiara told me Abrar's demand.I couldn't believe it. He might be out of his mind to expect this from me. I would go to him and request him to join the lunch. If everything was normal, I would do that. But after that heated argument, he wanted me to do this! He would have to apologize."Y-yes, ma'am", Kiara mumbled, dropping her head."What did you say?", I asked."I said I would tell you""Really?", I shrugged. "Couldn't you say that I can't come?""Ma'am, now he's my senior too. How can I—", she strived to say."Shut up. You're good for nothing", I groaned. "Leave now"She stammered and turned around. "Sorry, ma'am""Leave", I groaned. The next moment, she rushed out of the cabin. I was strolling inside the cabin t reduce the anger and my phone was buzzing continuously.I grabbed the landline and called up Abrar. I could hear his tel
ZoyaMy head felt like a big pressure cooker that could blast right away. He walked past me out of the cabin."Arrggghhh", I felt like attacking him but I had no other way left."Zoya, we are getting late", he screamed from outside. I gritted my teeth and wished he could be there in between my teeth and I could munch him off."Coming", I screamed back."I'll see you at home, Mr. Zafar. Just wait", shrugging, I came out of the cabin. He was standing there, pulling a wry smile on his face.As I walked towards him, he locked my arm with his one. I said nothing and we left for the restaurant.*"Here they come", abbu beamed as we reached the massive table of the restaurant. Apart from abbu, Kaiser and Irtaza there were a few staff from Kaiser's company and a few from ours like Sahani, Kaif, and Rony."Good afternoon", I faked a smile and shot a glare to Abrar. He looked at me, rolling his eyes in confusion."What happ
ZoyaHis smile was always the evil one."Abbu, how can I? I mean it's such an old project. I know nothing about it yet. Let me handle the new project", I said."That's not a problem. Abrar knows about it well. He can guide you", abbu said. "And it'll be really good if you both work on the same project. You can discuss it anytime"I didn't know that Abrar was working on the same thing. Besides, it seemed to be good if I stayed with him while Irtaza would be there.I looked at Abrar. He seemed to be convinced with what abbu said and shook his head."I think Mr. Ali is giving me chances to give you proper coaching and class schedule", Abrar whispered while giggling. The topic which kept torturing me the whole day, now making me laugh. I chuckled at him."I think the student is now willing to take the course", he winked at me."And the student hopes that the teacher won't be too much grumpy", I rolled my eyes at him.
Abrar"Zoya is looking so calm after coming back home. Did you say something to her?", dadi looked at me with her suspicious eyes, making me feel like a culprit. I got clueless and rolled my eyes, unable to say something."What? Tell me. See, she is really upset", dadi said, looking at Zoya from the kitchen counter. She was arranging the table for dinner.I paused for a moment while looking at her. Her eyes met mine abruptly for a while, then she immediately drove them away. I wondered if any of my actions offended her. I didn't want to hurt her sentiments, nor I did anything wrong. Then what exactly affected her so much?"Will you tell me?", dadi shrugged next to me while filling the bowl with curry and then handing it to me."Nothing, dadi. Just argued", I said and I knew dadi would not try to ask about the matter."If it's only an argument from both sides then it's fine. But I hope you didn't do anything one-sided that hurt
AbrarHer words confused me. I remained standing there like a statue, unable to understand what she exactly meant. I tried to repeat her words as her reactions flashed into my mind. She said it affected her because it didn't feel bad? What the heck was that? Zoya and her twisted words! When I was assured that I started knowing her well, she made sure that I stumbled upon the fact that she was impossible to understand.I glanced at her for once. She was not sleeping. Though she was not facing me, I could say she was still awake."Good night, Zoya", I grumbled and walked towards my couch, expecting her to reply to me. But she didn't.I pulled on my quilt and looked at her."And please decide if you want to say things clearly to me. I can't crack riddles after a hectic day", my voice was harsh. She didn't say anything as I expected."Isn't not replying to someone after repeated questions a bad manner?", she spoke after a while."Y
