There was a small group of people trickling into the packhouse. All were there for the meeting that would soon take place. People were preparing for the conference, while others circulated among each other.
They talked about various things, including what had happened the night before. A general hum of conversation about who made it and who didn’t. Who was injured and who was being sent home. There was no talk of any factions pulling out and leaving. Nor did anyone talk of giving up.
It didn’t take long this time to organize equipment and personnel. Gregory again found himself dressed in his battle gear and waiting on the okay to pass through the portals. He felt like he was travelling through a mysterious rabbit hole. Gregory was itching to get this done. He was not stopping until they were successful in destroying the Lich and what existed of his brother.&n
Gregory awoke from sleeping and reached for Aricka. He then realized he was now comfortable and expecting her there beside him. He felt a longing in his heart for Aricka as he lay there, staring at the ceiling of his bedroom. One more interrogation, and then this would all be over—a highly personal questioning. Gregory wanted answers as to why Richard had done all this. He triedto take Everything from Gregory and never looking for his own place in the world. The Pack and their family would have supported anything he wished to have done. H
Gregory couldn’t bear to be in the room with Richard. It hurt too much to know that there was no way for them to give him a second chance. This time it was far worse than banishing him and giving him a chance to find a new path. He could never understand Richard’s choice entirely that was clear to him.He decided that he would get Evan and take him to see his Mother. He would be safe with Gregory beside him.Gregory had received reports about Evan since living with his friend Michael’s family. This way, there were fewer ch
Gregory returned Evan to Michael’s house with a Hell Hound in tow. Gregory explained what was happening and that he would be back in a few hours. He felt terrible about this, but he would not scar Evan with watching his father die before him. With that done, he stopped long enough to look through his email on his cellphone and send out some replies. He cursed a few times because of the time-sensitivity of some of it. Gregory called Rolo and found out that they had not started the destruction of the phylactery yet, so he made it clear he would be there for the proceedings. Then he returned to the site of the cells and entered the interrogations room. That was where the mages had set up for the ritual. As far as Gregory c
It had been hours since the Lich had been ripped to pieces by the magic of the Mages. It was gone for good, cursing a blue streak which the Druids proceeded to ensure didn’t lead to any lasting curses or restless spirits. At least in North America, the Supernatural World was at peace for the first time in known history. That history went back far beyond the average person’s belief, and for that reason, it was an end of an age and the beginning of the next. Richard had been in surgery for hours now, and all they knew was that at the time. He lived, but there was a lot more damage than the autopsy had registered.
Gregory was glad when he got his growling mate back to her bed. He could tell that she was showing the signs of shifting soon. These were times when he wished that shifters naturally shifted with the full moon at least the first time. That way, they would have a heads up. But no such luck. It was just like labour and delivery crossed with a moody teenager. No one knew how long labour would take, then when the delivery would happen, and they were never prepared for it. That’s when he realized that he’d have to help her through that too soon enough. It was the same here. Aricka had gone through joint pain and a fever already. Now she was on to being cross and growling.Doctor Graves had ushere
Gregory got a text message from his Father while Aricka was getting the all clear that she could return home. The Borden’s were inquiring where Aricka was and had been for almost a day. His Mother was keeping them in check and had explained the reason Aricka had gone missing. His Father assured Gregory that his Mother had apologized for not mentioning it to them. Using the excuse that with all the things going on in the last few days, the fact that Aricka was safe and in a doctor’s care had gotten lost somewhere. Gregory could only groan and then respond with that everything was okay and they would be back at the packhouse withi
Richard woke with a start. This time he noted there was less pain. But, the dread now came crashing in on him like a tidal wave. He wasn’t sure if he groaned because he hurt still or because his brain registered that everything was right, but it was all wrong still. How the fuck was he supposed to make things right? He realized suddenly that he actually cared and felt a need other than revenge for the first time in a hell of a long time. It didn’t change anything, but it meant everything was just that much harder. &nbs
