Chapter 2 congratulations

Lucinda Ava's P O V

"God! You are finally here!" Kylie let out a heavy breath in relief and then turned her voice to an angry one, saying "Why the hell are you so late?!". I turned to her with a huge smile, trying to cool her down. Then I paid for the cab, saying "Thank you".

He just smiled at me and then drove away.

"Traffic, you know?!" I replied casually, taking her hand in mine and trying to cool her down with a lie. There was no traffic, and I spent all these hours trying to look a little more beautiful with all the makeup that I never tried before.

I never had the luxuries to own makeup or go to the salon. We could use that money to get something useful or a good meal for dinner.

Many people might think that makeup is not that expensive, but for me, it is! It is so fucking huge for us, a family without a father and a mother with heart problems. The cost of her treatment is much more than we could afford, and we try our best not to spend money on anything, not even on dresses. This is also one of the reasons that I never accepted their invitation because their tip money can cover our two month expenses. I can't even afford to go out with them unless it is an emergency or if they drag me out.

I got this dress from my best friend, Georgia. She is working in one of the branded clothing shops, and when the clothes go out of season, she gets one of them and uses it. That's how I got one, and she is also the one that did the makeup. It looks so pretty, and she seems so talented in it. I am so lucky to have someone like her as a friend.

"You look so pretty tonight!" Kylie's words brought me out of my thoughts, I turned to hear her words "It's not like you were not pretty before, but tonight you look so beautiful that I can't even take my eyes off you! If I knew you could look this beautiful, I would have given you the makeover, even if you rejected me! I would have forced you, baby girl!" She whispered the last sentence, getting closer to my face, and I burst out in laughter.

Isn't she so cute and funny at the same time?

"What are you laughing at?! I am serious, and now, will you become my girlfriend?" She asked, stopping on the way and getting in front of me. I looked at her in confusion and suddenly, she got down on her knees and raised her hand to me. I smiled, placed my hand on hers, and nodded. "Who can reject such a beautiful woman? I will, but sorry, I am not into girls!".

"Then I will make you," she replied with confidence playing on her face and voice. She knew I could never say no to her, so she used it against me. Suddenly, I felt a chill running down my spine, and I couldn't understand what was happening. I could feel someone staring at me, and I turned around to look, but I couldn't spot anyone.

She got on her feet and said "Come on, let's go"

I shook off the feeling, nodded at Kylie, and walked inside the enormous palace-like house while linking our arms with a smile.

We both passed the ballroom on the 2nd floor, where the party was going on. My eyes searched for the very familiar figure that I wanted to see in the huge ballroom with many other people, but no matter how hard I searched. I can't see him.

"What are you looking at?! Come on, everyone is waiting for us upstairs!" Kylie said, pulling me towards the 3rd floor, where Stella's bedroom is located.

I turned to look at her beautiful face with a smile on my face, trying to act normal, and nodded my head, saying "Yes,".

She is so smart and can easily read other people's minds. It was so hard for me to compose myself in her presence when my friends talked about William and acted like I didn't know anything.

It is so fucking hard to act clueless while I know everything they talk about.

It is not like I don't want to tell them about my crush; it is just I don't want them to do anything stupid.

As I know, they can meet William, and what if they say something about me? I know about friends, and they love to tease me! What if they use this?

Even though I know he won't know me or couldn't care less about this silly crush as so many people have the same feeling for him as me.

But... For me, it's different. I prefer being a secret admirer then to getting ignored openly.

I... it is too much to even think about it.

I let her drag me out of the ballroom even though I wanted to stay there and search for the only person that I came here for. The one that made me think about dressing up to impress. The one that I always have eyes for, the one that I always think about, and the only person that I can never have in this life.

He is someone that I can never even think about touching.

Kylie stopped on the 3rd floor and turned to look at my face with a serious look on hers and asked "Now tell me, who the hell were you looking for? Did you think I am stupid and I can't notice your eyes searching for someone in that crowded ballroom?"

My eyes widen at her questions.

Her eyes stared at me with a questioning look, waiting for my lips to move and answer.

I blinked a few times, clinching my dress in nervousness while my heartbeat increased. It was getting a lot harder to calm myself.

Did I get caught?

No! She doesn't know anything about my crush, so I have to tell her something convening to make her believe me.

"I... I was just looking at the ballroom. I had never seen one this big before! It was so good," I said with a smile, ignoring her curious look.

She stared at me for a few seconds, without believing my answer, but choose to ignore that and said, "If you have anything, then you can always come to me,".

I thought that I got caught, but seeing her reaction, I gave her a smile and nodded my head, saying "Yes".

I don't want to say anything about this until they find out about my secret.

Kylie shook her head and opened the room behind me, and said, "Get in, this is Stella's room". I turned around in confusion, giving her an awkward smile, and took a step inside, seeing my friends sitting in the bed and having a deep conversation.

"Hey guys, what are you talking about?" I asked, forgetting everything Kylie just asked me, and walked in with a suspicious look. What are they planning?

Everyone turned towards me at the same time with their eyes showing the same emotion, which is guilt.

Within a few seconds, their face brighten up with a huge smile, like they are trying to cover up something. I want to dig in and find out about their stupid plan, but I choose to ignore it.

I don't want to fight with them. My mood is already sour.

"You look so pretty, Lucy!" Justin exclaimed, getting down from the bed. His eyes filled with pure adoration and love. If I didn't know him better, I could have thought he was in love with me.

He consistently uses the same expression to deliver these beautiful lines, regardless of my outfit.

Even If I have heard his words a lot of times, yet smile and feel beautiful with his words. He is so nice, and I like him a lot.

"If I knew, she could look like an angel after dressing up. I would have dressed her up every day!" Kylie commented from behind, walking close to me.

"She always looks like an angel, no matter what dress she wears!" Justin said with a smile, without moving his eyes from my face.

I smiled, hearing his words. I always feel so less of a person with them because of their status. No matter how good they treat me, I can never bring myself to think they are equal to me. They are always superior, but still, their words of adoration and how much they care about me always feel so grateful to have them as my friends.

"Come on, let's get back to our game!" Alex said with a smile, dragging me towards the bed and to their game.

I don't know what they were playing, but I am so sure; that it is not my type of game. No matter how close I get to them. I am never crossing the line and will never let them cross it too, so I played the judge's role, which is the best for me.
