Chapter 3. Damien Flynn

His car was amazingly comfortable but that was obvious, considering it was a top of the line Mercedes. I felt like I was surrounded in the ultimate in luxury from the leather to the seats.

I knew from hanging out with Maria so much that the car must have cost more than my entire college tuition combined. Maybe more.

His scent had intensified in the car and it was now swimming in my head making me feel strange things. I looked over at him, his face was grim and his hands gripped the steering wheel really tightly. I wondered what was up with that.

“Where are you taking me?” I ventured to ask him as I continued to stare at him.

“To the hospital,” he replied curtly.

“The hos..hospital?” I stammered, “No, please don’t. I’m fine. Can you just take me back to the campus? I have friends there, I can manage everything.”

Not only did hospitals scare me but I knew I had no money to afford a visit to the hospital, I didn’t even have insurance. How would I pay for my check up? Oh God, and knowing the price of the car I was sitting in, he would probably take me to a very expensive private one. Shit.

“No, we’re going to the hospital. You could have broken your leg and if I believed that shit about your friends, I wouldn’t have put you in my car.” His tone seemed final.

“Please, please, don’t take me to the hospital,” I pleaded, “And I swear I have friends, I was just going there, and I was actually going to class when this happened. They’re probably wondering where I am right now.”

“Yeah, your phone just won’t stop ringing. You haven’t called anyone.” His said sarcastically.

“My battery died, I swear, please just drop me somewhere.. anywhere.. just not the hospital!” I was panicking now.

He swerved suddenly and stopped the car at the curb.

I shot out a hand to the door so I could climb out and there was an immediate click of locks.

“Don’t you dare!” he said.

He turned towards me then and I felt the full force of his eyes in the close proximity of the car.

“Okay, what’s your deal? I’m doing you a favor here and taking you to the hospital and you’re acting as if I’ve kidnapped you!” His tone was impatient.

“You’re bullying me into going to the hospital, and besides I don’t even know your name!” I was being ridiculous, I knew that but at this point, I had no choice.

“What has that got to do with anything?” He looked at the end of his wits.

“You’re a stranger taking me somewhere, I have a right to ask you,” I defended myself.

“I’m not taking you somewhere, I’m taking you, an injured person to the hospital,” he emphasized.

“And I said I don’t want to go to the hospital!” I repeated.

“Why?” he looked flabbergasted.

“because..because..I’m scared of hospitals,” I said in a low voice.

He let out a breath and looked like he regretted dropping me in his car. Good, I thought. Let him leave me here or anywhere.

“Okay, alright, if you don’t want to go to the hospital, the hospital will come to you” he said decisively.

“What do you mean?” I asked warily.

“You’ll see a doctor one way or another, I’ll make sure of it!” he replied and started his car and turned back the other way. Now where were we going? Maybe he was really going to drop me back at the campus.

I didn’t know how I felt about that.

“Can you tell me what is happening?” I asked him.

“You wanted to know my name? I’m Damien, Damien Flynn. Now, relax. We will see a doctor, just not at the hospital.”

“Then where?” I asked uncertainly.

You’ll see when we get there, I don’t want you attempting to jump out of my car again” he replied.

“I don’t jump out of cars!”

“No, you just jump in front of them!”

“Yes, insult me more,” I said sarcastically.

“Okay alright, I won’t say anything. You didn’t tell me your name yet.”

“Oh, I’m Seline. Seline Morales. Nice to meet you Mr. Flynn.” I replied back politely.

He rolled his shoulders as if not liking something in my reply but before he could say anything, his phone started ringing.

He picked it up and listened intently to what was being said. It sounded like a woman on the other end.

Maybe it was his wife, I thought. He looked like he could have been married but there was no ring on his finger.

“Cancel it, I can’t make it today!” He replied to the woman and finished his conversation.

Maybe it was his girlfriend, but no, this early? It must be wherever he worked, maybe his secretary. That sounded more plausible.

But he probably did have a girlfriend, maybe more than one, I thought. He was certainly really attractive. My heart had burst out of my chest when he’d picked me up. I didn’t even feel any pain when I was focusing on him. My mind just automatically blurred things out.

It was strange, because I’d never been attracted to an older guy before and it wasn’t because I hadn’t met any. And he didn’t seem all that old, he seemed like he was in his thirties and that wasn’t old right?

Was I trying to convince my 23 year old self that it was okay to be attracted to him?

Woah..It was only because he was just so different..

There was an aura about him that spoke of strength and power. He had really strong features, elegant features.

My eyes tracked his face, his silky black hair set into perfect waves, grey eyes. I looked at his lips and wondered, how would he kiss?

I swallowed, what was I thinking? Boy, was I in over my head here.

He had literally sidetracked my mind and I’d forgotten what was happening around me.

He started to slow down and we were heading into a parking garage in a huge building, just where the hell was he taking me?

“Where are we?” I asked him.

“Home, my penthouse to be exact.” He replied.
