Chapter 18

The cells were part of a separate building behind the packhouse. I had never been there, so I was curious to see what it was like. It was a large stone building with security cameras facing every direction.

There was a keypad near the door, but Theo stopped in front of the camera. A buzzing sound rang out, and the door opened.

‘Security here is very tight for a reason. You either have to be let in by the guard or enter the code to get in. Said code changes on a weekly basis. We’ve never had any security breaches but want to make sure that remains a reality,’ he explained.

‘That’s a brilliant deterrent. Are you alerted if an incorrect code is entered?’

He flashed me a smirk and nodded. I was glad that we were able to be civil towards one another. We were practically strangers, but it seemed that we got along well. Taking the rejection out of it entirely, I could see how we definitely could have been friends. Perhaps we could in the future.
