Allison's POV

It's been weeks since David's untimely death, and the mansion has been eerily quiet. I haven't seen the masters for a week now, and while I'm thankful for the reprieve, I can't shake off a nagging sense of worry. As I entered the kitchen, Emily was busy preparing dishes for the servants. She noticed my cheerful demeanor and teased, "Hey Allison, you look rather happy today!"

I smiled, knowing Emily always has a knack for reading my mood. "Well, it's been a week of no masters, so I'm feeling over the moon!" I said, playfully hitting her. Emily snorted, "Don't jinx it, please!" We both burst out laughing, and I added, "It's been fun, but I'm a bit worried, too."

Emily feigned concern, "I'm serious, think about it." I stared at her, incredulous, knowing she didn't really care.
