First day at work

Allie's POV

Silence.

We were all peacefully throwing gazes at each other as if waiting for the torpedo among us to clarify the situation.

I racked my brain for the best retort to give Aaron who kept gaping from my legs to his chauffeur whose head is now bowed and hands folded like a kid caught at the moment he was about to steal meat from the pot of soup.

"You can leave and be back tomorrow morning" Aaron dismissed, referring to his palpitating driver, Richard scampered out without hesitation or utterance.

Aaron gave me an intense knowing stare before spinning around to leave. I clasped his arm not feeling settled regarding the fact that he did not say a phrase.

He googled at my hand on his arm and I left it like it burnt me. I cleared my throat and voiced out what was on my mind, especially because Richard had told me what was reckoned to be a secret and I had spurred it out and now this, I wouldn't like to be the source of his misery.

"I was the one that invited him to dinner.
