Chapter Fourteen

"It's Malik." As soon as those words came out of my mouth Adalyn lost it. I threw the car in reverse and peeled out of the parking lot, heading home as fast as I could. The gate was still open when I flew into the driveway. Adalyn jumped out of the car as soon as it stopped and ran into the house. I parked and ran through the house and down into the basement. Malik was almost unrecognizable and there was blood everywhere. The doctor was there and trying to save him but having no luck. Ophelia was holding a crying Adalyn and then it looked like a lightbulb went off in her head. She pushed out of Ophelia's arms and headed towards Malik.

"Adalyn, I know you want to do, but remember what we said", I called to her. "Do you trust these people?" I looked around the room and all the closest people in my life were staring back at me.
