“Isabella will be there,” Jake said, his eyes on the road. The weird sensations I was feeling at the moment were suddenly gone upon hearing the name.

I looked at him, confused. “Why?”

The truth was, I wouldn’t say I liked the idea of seeing her again; it would inevitably dredge up memories of the times Jake had been in her arms. It was irrational of me, but she was a selfish bitch. The past she had with Jake was not pleasant to remember. I didn’t care if Jake didn’t love her then. She was still a cheater.

“Conrad wants to talk to me in person. One of the VIPs takes Isabella as his Pet.”

“But she’s banned at Amythest,”

“In my favor, yes. But this particular VIP is the Page’s dear acquaintance. Conrad doesn’t want to refuse the man.” He reached for my hand, his touch reassuring. “Meeting her is optional, of course. You can wait in the other room while we talk. We’d be in Conrad’s office.”
