Jack Warren stood looking down the length of the darken street. He carefully looked at his watch. He can’t believe the strange phone call he received during the early evening. His heart break when he recognized the familiar voice breaking in fear while asking him help.
He immediately went into action slipping from his high security residence not wanting his highly paid bodyguards to know about his past. That side of him was only reserved for himself. He learned a long time ago not to trust the people closest to him.
“Where the hell are you?”
His fingers gripped the briefcase tightly knowing how dangerous it was to carry that much money around. On high alert he kept looking around. He kept for the moment a tight reign on his closed memories. He knows once he opened that door, the hurt, the fury, everything bad kept locked will be unleash.
His mind briefly wanders to the girl he saw earlier. He made a note of the man and woman. They will be dealt with in a manner they will never forget. While he waited for his instructions, he carefully noticed what has been done to her. When she briefly looked into his eyes something stirred deeply within him. Currently his mind must be on this meeting.
“I have been doing everything, what’s keeping you?” he softly asked just to hear his voice, his mind too full of questions with no answers. He wonders about the package he was to buy and collect.
The sudden blinking of car lights alerts him he was no longer alone. Quietly furious since he didn’t hear the darken van approached.
He stood and wait. He noticed two men getting out but also stood looking at him.
Carefully looking around, he noticed no one else but he stayed where he was. His cell phone suddenly vibrates in his pocket. His eyes on the men he reached for it. He noticed the message. Quickly unlocking the screen, he read the message.
“No ways,” he said looking at the men beside the van. He stood waiting not about to make the first move but anxious to know what package would be released into his care.
“Step towards the van,” the gun was stuck into his back.
Jack instantly felt fury when he realized he did become distracted in not hearing the gunman approached.
“Who are you guys?”
“Move,” the man snap.
Jack gripped the briefcase and start to move forward. The moment he was closed to the van another man stepped outside.
“Money,” he said.
Jack looked at the man, face scared and mean looking. He shrugged his shoulders and handed over the briefcase.
“This is for you.”
He took hold of the envelope before looking at the man. He watched them all leave. He turned and quickly walked back to where he had parked his car. He opened the envelope.
“Jason Warren,” he read the name. He noticed an address and time set for tomorrow.
Jack feels restless and concerned about the girl he had noticed earlier. After what he and his mother went through while he was growing up, he truly hated when someone was mistreated. He had a hard way of growing up. He learned every lesson the vicious way. His mind travels back to a time when he dared look behind the door. His hand wipes across his face, as he recalls he don’t know the hour of the night nor the reason he woke that night. His first sleepy impression the bright moon seen through the open curtains.
Something caught and held his attention. His once sleepy gaze suddenly fixed, something caught his attention as he watched the bedroom door slightly ajar. Afraid and confused yet curious he wondered what was behind that door.
“Mom,” he queried.
“Go to sleep Jack.”
“What’s going on?”
He watched as she disappeared from his sight. Her odd behavior made him get out of bed. He quickly stood behind the still slightly ajar bedroom door. He looked at the moon puzzled then suddenly opened the door wider. He then stood in the hall that looked sinister.
“Mom, where are you?” he called softly.
He caught ahead of him a kind of shadowy movement. When he realized he stood in front of another door, having a definite feeling of fear, what was behind that door.
“Mom, are you in here?” His worry for her was greater than his own fear.
He watched like magic the door opened revealing the demon of a man he called father. His hair was unkempt, his teeth yellow stained.
He still can smell the venomous intent behind the snake of a man.
“You just had to look behind the door, boy,”
Jack stood in his vast kitchen drinking water that splashed over his chest. He can still taste the fear from so long ago. He focused his mind away from his own past towards the girl in the club. He was worried about her. He somehow senses his life will entwine hers somehow. The bright lights were suddenly switched on.
“Sir,” the man servant was surprised. “Are you alright?”
“Yes,” he said shortly.
“Don’t get angry…you vanished from the residence earlier. I wanted to check the tracker on the vehicle but decided against it.”
Jack looked at the man who he found living on the streets a couple of years ago. He extended a hand and not once regretted it. Both are in their own way broken men.
“It was the past calling. I will listen again tomorrow. Keep the men away from me.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Good night William.”
He wanders around the empty mansion the question burning in his mind. The words slipped from his lips. “Who am I?” The girl popped again in his mind. “Would you understand me? I don’t understand my own past. I certainly didn’t choose this path.”
He wipes with his hands repeatedly over his face. The path refused to stay hidden tonight. “Who am I? The night I was born there was blood on the moon. Since my first breath I had to fight I had to fight to survive. I learned the lessons on each birthday from the age of thirteen. The teachings left the mark the message clear. A repeated offence on my part when I again looked behind the door.”
He looked at his hand seeing the imaginary knife in his hand dripping with blood that splashes onto his bare feet. He looked bewildered and scared. Then he truly learned life was very cruel when you least expect it. In the blink of an eye everything chances. He forged himself into the man he was today.
He still aimlessly wanders around his home mind circling around the past and many questions about the girl in trouble. The fact that he left and didn’t help her sits uncomfortable on his shoulders.
“Fuck!” he cursed spinning on his heels. “I am going to look for her.
Jack swiftly opens the front door when his body still. He just saw the three men rushing from his porch. About to make alarm when he looked down at what they left. He immediately stepped back concerned it might be a bomb. Suddenly the content within the large duffle bag moved. He stepped forward bend and unzipped it. The face of an unconscious boy appeared. He noticed the note stick against his head. He grabbed it and quickly read, ‘Jason Warren, love and protect him.’ He recognized the handwriting as she home schooled him.
“Mom,” he said looking into the dark night.
His arms slipped into the duffle bag and carefully he removed the boy. He carried him to one of the closest bedrooms where he very gentle placed him on the bed. He searches for his phone and called his private doctor.
“I Jack Warren appeared to be the big brother of Jason Warren, a boy that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Now the big question, Mom, where are you? You helped me escaped from father with the promise of joining me. Then you vanished. Why? Where are you? Are you okay? I become a powerful man, reach out to me, I can help you, as you saved me.” He whispered in anguish and worry.
“That’s cold,” hissed Jazz opening her eyes. She instantly starts to shiver especially when she realized she was naked and her hands tied together. Frantically looking around to see who was with her and where she was currently.“Eva,” she asked shocked.“Took your bloody time waking up,” she grabbed hold of another bucket of water. Viciously she throws it against the helpless girl who covered on the dirty bed.Jazz sputters when the water hit her full in the face again. She thought she had survived her cousin’s mean streak but apparently not since she was behaving again like she used to when they were children. She suddenly searched and found her inner core knowing how to play their games of tormentor and the captive. She always might start the fight but she who was Jazz Duncan always completed it stepping away as the victor.“What the hell Eva? Untie my hands now.” She said in the stern voice she learned from her grandmother.“Tell me cousin, what do you remember about last night?” E
Jack Warren, self-made billionaire was not a man to be trifled with. He allows no one into his inner circle. There was only one man he trusted, he saved him from the streets and earned his respect and absolute loyalty. He looked at the sleeping boy across from him in the car. Since he found Jason in that duffle bag, not once did he leave him alone. He trusts no one around the boy. His mother has entrusted him with another one of her most valued persons. He was curious about his brother but any questions he has to wait for the answers.“Sir, we are here?”He looked up and away from the boy. The rundown building was the place he had grown up in. He patiently waited until the current owner died before buying the place. He plans on creating a park here. He wants to wipe away his past. He looked back at the sleeping boy wandering what his life was like before. The boy only admitted once that their mother told him he was his big brother and that he should live with him now. He tried to ques
“Jack Warren, where the bloody hell are you?”The man in question patiently sits behind his desk watching the door as it burst opened. He should talk to his ‘man’ about who was allowed entrance into his residencies from now on. He acted on pure instinct when he so quickly married Jazz Duncan. Uncertain as yet what his plans was but no one was going to made her look like a fool while married to him. He should give his ‘man’ a huge bonus for wiping the footage from the internet.“Bastard,” screeched the tall girl. She stopped in front of his desk slapping her open palms down on the smooth top.“Carly King,” he said nonchalant.“Is that all you can say?” she truly tries to control her temper. Suddenly she stood upright and strolled towards a close by chair sitting down. She takes deep breathes to calm her flaring temper.“What do you want Carly?”“Is it true?” she asked in a now soft almost girly voice.“You have to be more precise with the accusation.” He said indifferent.“Are you mar
“Jason,”Jazz quickly approached the boy. These last two days she noticed he kept himself apart from everyone. She was still uncertain but was acting on a gut feeling around him. If she was reading the signs correctly the boy has trust issues. She felt drawn to him almost like she should protect him. She remembers being very independent after losing her parents but there was something else going on with the boy.“Is something wrong Jazz?” he quickly sits up straight closing his school books.“No, I am just letting you know I am going out for an hour. Will you be okay?”“Yes, Jazz,”“Okay, can we have a movie night later?”“I would like that. Maybe we can ask Jack to join us.” He asked hopeful.“That’s an idea. Just so you know, I am not into romantic stories, I like scary or action packed.” She grinned when she saw she hit the right note for movie night. She hugged him again before leaving.Jason watched her, silent tears streaming down his face. He quickly looked around relief when h
Jazz packed several of her most precious belongings. She then sends a maid to call in her driver. While she waited, she starts to searched for her dolphin necklace but can’t seemed to find it. This has her very worried. The piece of jewelry belonged to her mother. Puzzled she stood in the middle of the bedroom. “May I enter?” the driver stood politely outside her bedroom. “Yes,” “Get out of my way.” Eva stormed past the man. “Get out,” she ordered. The man stood motionless looking at Eva. “Are you deaf,” she screamed. “No, I only obey my Missus,” he said calmly. “You are not bloody serious,” the disbelieve in her voice very obvious. She actually stormed the man with the intension of pushing him out. He stood rooted in one spot just looking at her bored. Jazz briefly smiled before she nods for the man to take her luggage downstairs. She then turned to face her irate cousin. “What do you want Eva?” “Where are you going?” she asked in a confronted tone. “What is it to you, E
Jack glared at the phone in his hand. At first, he didn’t understand why William handed it to him.“May I enter, sir?”Jack looked pointedly at his ‘man’ waiting for an answer.“Sir, your wife left it in the car when she rushed to enter.” He starts with explaining.“What do you mean?” Jack feels like hitting someone. He may have married her on contract but really no one was going to play her for a fool.“As you know I followed her to where she went. I noticed she was acting very doubtful, almost like she wasn’t certain about her actions. In front of this apartment complex she was pacing back and forth.”“That’s very curious,” Jack observed.“Indeed sir, and she seemed have an active conversation with herself,” a small smiled quickly played around his lips.“Excuse me!” Jack wasn’t certain he heard correctly.
“I am a married woman, oh why, oh, did that happened,” Jazz sings while standing awkwardly in the shower, the strong arms holding in her position. Apparently, no shame in being naked with the man being a stranger.“What should I do, what should I do,” She giggles then spurted water when a silent Jack pushed her soapy head under the water.“Excuse me!” she wiped the water from her face.“You better finish before I dropped you. Next time call one of the maids to help you,” Jack growls while reaching to shut the water of.“I am not married to a bloody maid, and besides you did lie saying for better or worse,”“It was just words,” he declares.“Its what you think,” Jazz wipes the wet hair from her face then slowly turning in the arms holding her. She slowly looked up into his scowling face. “Really, what’s with the expression Jack?&r
The drums are calling, the drums are beating, the drums echoing the warning…Jack was restless and tense in his sleep. He tried opening his eyes but everything stayed dark around him.He can taste the fear in his mouth on his tongue. He tried fighting the invisible hands holding him down.“Jack don’t look,” said the voice somewhere in the darkness.“Who are you?” he tried asking but it felt like his lips are barely moving. It felt like his body was drenched in sweat.Again, he tried waking up but it seemed like he stayed trapped in the nightmare. He doesn’t know the hour of the night nor the reason but at last he managed to wake up. His first sleepy impression was the bright moonlight through the open curtains.Something caught and draw his attention, his gaze fixed on the door that stood slightly ajar. This puzzles him.“Jack,” called the voice. He starts to follow the voice. Once he reached his door, he carefully pushed it opened. The hall looked shadowy. Uncertain about what to do.
