Chapter 17 - A Desperate Stand

As I plummeted through the air, I didn’t really care where I was landing as long as I escaped this dreadful place that was once home to me. Lifting my head, I found myself met with piercing blue eyes staring down at me.

"I'm going to enjoy putting a bullet in that head of yourss," he silently mouthed.

Without hesitation, I released my grip on the rope, landing safely in a flower bed below. Thank goodness for that stroke of luck.

Our home, unlike the other houses on the estate, was the lone white structure that stood out, with beautiful flower beds adorning its surroundings and fences enclosing it. The front gate, serving as the only exit, was guarded by a few stationed guards. In search of cover, I positioned myself beside one of the flower beds, remaining cautious of the men within the house and the guards who blocked the only escape route.

Taking a deep breath, I mustered up encouragement. "Come on, Sophie, you've spent years honing your combat skills. You know how to kick ass. J
