A meal

By the time I realized that I had entered Derik Miller's car, it was too late. Again, I had acted impulsively, only to regret it afterward.

Without hesitation, I followed through with my rash decision, leaving Alex and Mia standing there.

"Are you stalking me now?" I asked this cold and silent man sitting beside me, "Take me to Boulevard now or I will sue you for being a perv."

"Do as this lady says." He ordered his driver who responded with a bow

Remorse filled me, I regretted my impulsive actions and now I had lost Alex, my best friend Mia, and my virginity. With a heavy heart, I knew that yesterday was indeed the worst day of my life.

It was when he gave me a towel, that I had realized tears were gushing from my eyes

"Thank You," I said as I followed his gaze down to my muddy shoes. "I promise Mr Miller, I'll clean your car, I'm sorry for making a mess."

"I will appreciate that." He replied coldly

The next few minutes' drive was a silent one until we finally got to Boulevard Street and the car parked

"You should be more careful." He finally breaks the silence "Someone dangerous might pick you up."

Although his words made sense, I felt like there was something more to how he meant them, something felt wrong with what he said.

"Take care," I replied a step back, then turned around and walked towards the residential area with a limp.

Derik looked at me through the mirror, "You are hurt!" I turned to look at him, "you should see a Doctor Miss Charlotte."

"No! Thank you. I will be fine in a matter of two days."

He raised his eyebrows while I watched his car zoomed off

Meanwhile, two weeks passed and I noticed I had missed my period and started to feel nauseous and tired, I went to the hospital for a checkup

While waiting for my turn, I muttered silently not to be pregnant.

Finally, it was my turn, "Congratulations Miss Jenner, you are pregnant." The Doctor broke the news to me.

Shock gripped me at this sentence. "Pregnant? What? How?"

I ran out of the hospital muttering "No! That can't be."

Tears danced freely down my face as I left the hospital.

Meanwhile, it's been over two days since I had locked myself indoors feeling dejected. The thought that I might have my Mum's fate scared me, "Gosh, what should I do?" I thought

I don't want to get pregnant by a man above my caliber, a man who will only torture me and won't love me, just like what happened to my mum. "Gosh, what should I do?" My eyes were in confusion

The thought of my baby's father, who was a dangerous and wealthy one-night-stand man, and the primary rival of my father has left my mental health in shambles, "I will run far away from Mr. Miller before my stomach starts to grow big. It's better that way" I said loudly after much deliberation

Meanwhile, I just finished my shift at the bar today. I needed to start saving for my child. On the roadside, A car suddenly pulled beside, "Mr. Miller?"

"How is the doctor's report?" I said and i frooze in shock, believing he had suspected my pregnancy, "I told you two weeks ago to go to the hospital."

"Oh! I didn't. I said I would be fine after two days."

He raised his eyebrows, "Get in"

"What? No!"

"I remember that you said two weeks ago that you would come and wash my car "

I was lost in a daze. I Didn't believe he would make me wash his car. I wanted to scream at the top of my voice that I felt too sick to go but I maintained my composure

When I got in the driver's seat, I wanted to sit in the back, Derik said calmly, "I never drive for others."

I thought for a moment, then stepped back, opened the door, and got into the car.

As he started the car and left, I politely said, "I'm really sorry for dirtying your car."

"Yeah, because I don't want you to feel sorry for me, I'll give you a chance to do something for me before I wash the car, It will be even."

"What is it?"

"Accompany me for a meal."

"Eat? Forget it, I'm not hungry. Besides, it's not appropriate for me to eat with you alone."

"This car of mine is very expensive, the towel that you used to wipe your tears the previous day, is worth over a hundred thousand, it's no longer usable now. I'll give you a fifty percent discount, fifty dollars. So, do you want to lose money or accompany me for a meal?"

"You're taking advantage of the situation."

He raised his eyebrows

I haven't eaten all day and the thought of food elated me and besides, having to pay an unplanned bill gave me a headache. I slowly reached to the lower part of her abdomen as I thought of my unborn child with the cold man beside me. "Alright, I will eat with you." My expression with a sound of defeat

The car stopped in front of the restaurant's entrance. Derik pointed at the back of the car and said, "There's a set of clothes behind the car. Go and change."

He got out of the car and leaned against the door.

Soon, I changed my clothes and got out of the car.

He looked at me with satisfaction in his eyes. He pulled my wrist and naturally stuffed it into the crook of his arm.

The two of us went upstairs together, I wondered why I felt that today was not just about eating.

When we entered the dining room, Derik ordered the same food for both of us while I admired the fancy restaurant.

As we were about to start eating, we heard a gentle voice, "Derik?"The woman in the room was beautiful and elegant

Derik smiled,

"Derik, this is.…?" she asked looking at me

Derik naturally smiled: "This is Vincent's tutor, just call her Charlotte."

When the woman heard this, she smiled lightly, "So it's Charlotte. Hello, I'm Jessica"

I nodded to her, "Hello, Miss Jessica."

Derik sat down, "Take a seat."

"Do you mind if I join you guys?"

"Have a seat," Derik replied

Jessica signed to a waiter, while he came with the menu, "I'm having trouble picking, Derik do you mind picking a dish for me"

"Uhn, I do not seem to remember your preferences" he replied coldly while Jessica felt embarrassed

"Miss Charlotte? I didn't know you like Shrimps" she said to save herself from the embarrassment

Derik's hand naturally caressed my head a few times. With a gaze full of love, he said, "She likes what I like."

His actions caused Jessica's smile to freeze on her face.

But very quickly, she smiled, "this please," she said as she pointed at the menu

I was even more embarrassed. This sudden act of patting my head gave me quite a fright.

During dinner, I barely touched the sweet delicacy in my front, so I just played with my fork as I listened to the both of them.

"Why aren't you eating?" Derik asked after he had consistently given me some part of his food

"Nothing, uh... I'm not hungry" On the contrary, I was actually hungry but the food's aroma didn't seem to go well with my pregnancy

Jessica didn't talk much and just ate gracefully. However, from time to time, she would glance at me, her eyes showing a suspicious look

After dinner, the three of us left the restaurant together.Derik put his arm around my shoulders and escorted Jessica to her car, he was as gentle as a boyfriend

Jessica turned around and looked at me. She said gently, "Miss Charlotte, can I have a few words with Derik alone?"

"Alright then, I'll go back to the car first." I turned around and walked towards Derik's car.

After I had left, Jessica bit her lips and looked at Derik with reddened eyes. "How have you been?"

"Pretty good."

"What's going on with you and Charlotte?"

Derik raised his gaze and did not look at her. "I really think that Charlotte is pretty good. Don't you think so?"

She chuckled, Why do I have that feeling that she's pregnant?" She said folding her arms across her breast

"What are you talking about?"

"Tsk tsk, she's pregnant. Did you guys have...."

Suddenly Derik's phone rang; "Excuse me,," he said as he walked to a corner to pick up his phone

He came back after a minute; Derik looked up: "You should go back earlier. I still have to send Charlotte back to school. There's a meeting in the afternoon."

He opened the door for her. Jessica sighed, lowered her eyes, and said, "I'm sorry,"

Returning to the car, I smiled mischievously at him.

Derik frowned in displeasure. "What are you laughing at?"

"You like Miss Jessica right right?"

Derik looked at me and his eyes widened.

"Who is she to you anyway?"

"She is my sister in law" he replied coldly

"Is she your Ex?"

Derik stared at her with an expression that said "Yes"

"Oh! So you brought me here to provoke your ex, who is also your sister-in-law?" I smiled "How did she end up with your brother anyway? He's more handsome than you are?" I teased

"Uh! He's a cripple." He smirked

"What how did that happen? Did you cripple him? I heard you killed your brother and crippled the second."

Derik's expression suddenly changed, "Shut it, and don't ask nonsense in front of me ever again." With a cold face, he started the car and drove away.

I regretted instantly what I had just told him, I felt I had passed my boundary. I gave it a second thought, "Ever again?" I thought there was no ever again since I was going to run away from the city before my pregnancy started to grow bigger. we won't have to see each other again, I just have to finish my thesis in less than two months.

Knowing that he had someone he liked, I actually felt a lot more relaxed in my heart.

"Anyway, why weren't you eating back there?"

"I wasn't hungry."

"Are you sure? Cause Jessica thinks there's more to it."

"What? More to it?"

"She thinks you are pregnant. Are you pregnant?" He looked at me coldly as he parked his car

"What?" My heart began to beat fast

"What do you mean?"

Suddenly, he placed his hands on my stomach and I froze, I had not expected such an action from Derik His eyes opened as he could hear a faint heartbeat from my belly. I immediately pushed his hand away after regaining myself. His shocked gaze looked at me with an expression that said, 'You are pregnant.' "My Child!" He exclaims. After a while, he asked, "When did you find out?"

"Is that Important?"

"Tell me!"

"A few days ago," I said as I looked away from him, "Don't worry Mr. Miller, this Child won't have anything to do with you. I promise I will go far away to...."

"No. You aren't going anywhere with my Child."

"What!"

"This Child is Mine!"
