CHAPTER 266

Nicholas and Noel led Selena into the police station. They prepare to conduct an interrogation in a room in the police station. The presence of Nicholas, Noel and Selena attracts the attention of the other police officers, especially Hendrick who has just returned from outside.

Hendrick immediately asked when he crossed paths with Nicholas. "Excuse me, Chief. Who is he?"

Selena and Hendrick exchanged glances, but Hendrick didn't recognize Selena's face. This was the first time they had met and Selena's face felt very unfamiliar. Hendrick then looked at Nicholas, when Nicholas finally answered.

"This woman is related to Ace's case, I will interrogate her."

Nicholas pushed Selena's shoulder, about to lead her into the interrogation room, but Hendrick quickly interrupted. "Can I join the interrogation? Maybe this has something to do with the death of Jason and his family?"

But Nicholas had already lost faith in Hendrick. He knew Hendrick's true purpose; getting as much information about Ace as possible. Nicholas glanced at Noel who was standing behind Hendrick, then at Hendrick again. Nicholas lifted his chin, pointing at Noel. "You don't need to participate in this interrogation. You should help Noel make a report. There are so many bodies in the forest, Noel will have a hard time making a report."

Hendrick wanted to say more, but Nicholas immediately took Selena to the interrogation room in the police station. Nicholas deliberately kept Hendrick away so that he would panic and be provoked. Nicholas had to get to Hendrick's boss. Who would dare make Hendrick betray him?

Hendrick looked at Noel with resignation. While Noel shrugged his shoulders, he said, "You'll throw up like Nicholas when you see the corpses in the forest!" Noel turned around, "You'd better get a move on and help me with the written report."

That day, Hendrick couldn't do anything as Noel kept an eye on him.

Meanwhile, in the interrogation room, Nicholas sat across from Selena. He pointed at the laptop on the table and said, "I'll have to copy everything you say here. It's called modernization, so you'd better stay patient and explain everything in detail."

Selena remained silent and observed Nicholas. She gave him a puzzled look, but didn't dare to say anything.

"First of all, I'd like to know how you met Ace? Have you reconnected since you left Golden High School? Or, is he probably looking for you?"

Selena shook her head. "He came to my boutique a few days before. He pointed a gun at me and asked me how to meet Amanda. Ace knew I was still in contact with Amanda. I... worked for Amanda to pay the bills and rent for my boutique in the city."

It was a very honest confession. Nicholas found it interesting to discuss. He then typed what Selena had just said on the laptop. Nodding his head, Nicholas continued, "Then... why are you working with Amanda? Don't you have your own clothing boutique? Are your sales not enough to pay your bills and needs?"

"No, Detective. Amanda came to me after we graduated from Golden High School. My financial condition deteriorated after my parents died, my fiancé also had an accident while I was pregnant. I was really down and almost desperate. But Amanda came at the right time like an angel. She offered me a lot of money as long as I followed all her wishes."

"Do you know where Amanda gets the money from?"

Selena mumbled, she then chose to be frank with Nicholas. "I didn't know at first, but after a few months of working with Amanda, I finally found out that she became a drug dealer. She works for someone called The Fixer."

Nicholas frowned. "Who is The Fixer?"

"I don't know, I've only ever heard the name, never met him in person."

There was a pause there, Nicholas tried to draw conclusions from some of Selena's statements. "So, you work for Amanda, and Amanda works for The Fixer. But why would Ace want to meet Amanda?"

Selena sighed, "I don't know that he intends to take all of Amanda's possessions. I just know that Ace really needs all those millions of dollars to do business with The Fixer. He asked me to bring her to The Fixer, and we made a plan."

"Wait, wait, wait!" Nicholas furrowed his brow in confusion. He then pointed at Selena's face with the pen in his hand. "Didn't you say you'd never met The Fixer?"

"Yes. I didn't meet The Fixer in person. Usually he would send someone to bring drugs, and Amanda would send me to bring money. We did the transaction. I explained that too to Ace and he used it as an opportunity. Ace got me to meet The Fixer's man and Ace followed the man to get to The Fixer."

Nicholas pressed his tongue against his mouth. "Were you able to meet The Fixer without Amanda?"

"No, Detective. Only Amanda has that access," Selena said. She raised her cuffed hands to the table, then said, "I've told you everything. Can you let me go free, Detective? I have a boy to pick up at daycare. Please, have mercy on me. I'm just a victim of Amanda's manipulation, nor can I fight Ace because he's pointing a gun."

"One more question. What would Ace do with that much money?"

Selena shook her head weakly. "I have absolutely no idea, Detective. I'm not in a position to ask, because Ace is just using me. And so is Amanda. But it looks like... Ace would go to a far away place with that much money. He's probably working with The Fixer to do something. But I don't know what."

After deliberating, Nicholas said to Selena. "I will release you after we take a urine test. If you prove negative for drugs, then you will be free. But otherwise... you will be imprisoned if you use drugs. I will prepare a test for you."

Selena held Nicholas' hand and looked at him expectantly. "Please let me go free, Detective."
