"Then we're settled," Maureen removed her arms away from me and added, "I'll keep in touch with you from time to time for the updates, Elaine. Thank you so much for your kindness."

Maureen did not even give me the chance to decline her proposal when she disappeared from the office in the blink of an eye. She already gets what she wants from me and those employees surrounding us - me getting intimidated.

As soon as she disappeared from my sight, everyone also got back to their respective offices. The only thing I did after that was drop my butt on my chair, and my face on the desk.
