Chapter 5 The Fight

Eve POV

“Let’s drown her”, someone from the group shouted and they all roared together in unison.

I was already short of breath and water was in my eyes, I couldn’t see anyone, everyone and everything was a blur for me. But one thing I was sure of…that I was gonna die today. This was it for me.

Then several hands gripped my body again, I could feel their hands on me, they had me pinned. And then a hand grabbed my hair roughly from behind and forced my head down in the water.

I let out a gasp and the cold water went into my mouth and my nostrils, made its way into my body, rendering me unable to breathe. Little bubbles formed inside the water as I tried to breathe. I did try to use my hands and feet to break free, to kick them off of me but they were so many and their grip was strong and I was sure of my death now. I was giving up, my body was giving up…. I was going to drown and it'd be over any minute now.

There were several wolfs who had started howling nearby but the group ignored that and continued with ending my life, constantly putting pressure on my head and keeping it in the water.

But then they stopped, they stopped drowning me and I seized that moment and finally lifted my head out of the cold water, and gasped for air.

Even though my body was still deep in the water I was glad to be out of that nightmare. I was breathing heavily. I managed to get out and collapsed on the grass near the lake.

My clothes were soaking wet, water was dripping down from them as I laid there quietly looking up at the people that had just decided to end my life.

My vision was clearing up and I could see the group was not cheerful as they were moments ago drowning me. They were staring at the trees in the woods. Something was amiss. They looked genuinely scared right now. I couldn’t understand what possibly could have scared these savages.

I could hear more howls and the pounding of paws on the ground. The ground was shaking or maybe it was me shaking. It looked like some wolves were headed our way.

All of a sudden the leaves on the trees started rustling and out came a big black Wolf followed by others and they growled at the group. The Black Wolf was huge. I didn’t know them at all, they were all huge. I had never seen those wolves on our pack but I was glad they showed up. I had a feeling that now I’ll be saved.

When all of them saw this new wolf pack and especially the big black one the bullies paused to look at each other and decided to run but the wolves had them covered from all angles. They were left with no way to escape.

They kept growling at them, all the students were scared of this, and then Sam took charge and they decided it was best to shift too. They shifted. Meanwhile, a caramel-colored wolf grabbed my arm in its jaws and pulled me away from the lake, I was almost unconscious. I guess he wanted me to stay away from harm’s way.

The weather had turned surprisingly cold, and strong winds had started blowing making the trees and leaves sway. Then with one loud thunder, the rain started pouring. The ground had gotten wet and you could see the breaths of each wolf in a smoke form.

Both packs were circling each other, sizing up for the battle, their paws were crushing the leaves underneath them. I could hear that crunching sound. Their long white teeth were visible, clearly a sign to warn one another of their strength.

Now both packs were growling at each other. Both the packs were waiting for one another to make the first move.

A big black wolf came forward staring right at Sam, daring him to make the move soon enough Sam took the bait, and Sam’s Wolf lunged for the big black one, the black wolf dodged his attack and took Sam’s paw in its jaw and flung him over the trees, seeing all this the rest of my pack decided against fighting and went to see Sam.

Sam’s wolf got up in a flash even though I could see blood coming out of his paw. He growled at the other pack angrily and once again went running straight into the black wolf. It thundered as soon as they collided with a bang. I heard bones snapping maybe.

Sam was hurt again from hitting the black wolf head-on and collapsed to the ground. The black wolf slowly went to him his whole black fur was soaked in rain and water was dripping down from it. He paused and looked down at Sam who was now on the ground hurt and looking up at the giant of a wolf.

I couldn’t see anything clearly now. My breathing was getting shallow and shallow, and the last thing I saw was something black with glowing eyes touching my face with its nose and licking my cheeks. Then I passed out.
