Chapter 18: KAT

Oh, my...giddy is not the word to describe how I feel right now. I keep looking at my new sparkly anklet. It's hot with tiny little sapphire angels with diamond wings, and they're so flat I can't even feel them around my ankle.

As soon as my delivery arrived I was on the phone with Carol. She's in college now, but she was home on break.

"Carol, oh my gosh, you've got to help me. I have like a little less than four hours to get ready and..."

"Slow down, slow down, what?"

"So okay, I think tonight's the night with your brother andª"

I had to move the phone away from my ear her scream was so loud.

"I'll be right there."

"No-no-no, a spa. We need a spa."

"Not enough time, so you'll need to come here. I have everything, so why don't you just come on over?"

"Can't, your brother took my truck."

"Told you so. Okay, I'll come get you, but just so you know, mom's here, and she might stick her nose in."

"Oh no, you can't tell her. You know how embarrassing that would be?"
