Steve's POV
"I'm home" I announced to whoever was home. Just as I was about to go upstairs to my room, a maid appeared from a corner. "Welcome, sir" she greeted and I nodded. I seem to have gotten used to the fact that they all call me 'sir'. Most especially Vivian, the housemaid, who was just two years older than me.
I've always tried to convince her not to call me 'sir' but I guess she's just following her job ethics....to respect her bosses.
"Where's Jessie?" I asked her. "She's not back yet." "Alright. You can go back to do your work." I dismissed her and walked on to my room. I entered my room after unlocking the room door. Yeah, right...I know you guys might be wondering why I had to lock my room in my father's house.
Well Mom had strictly warned everyone, including the maid, Vivian and other male workers we have, to always lock the room doors to prevent future conflicts of intrusions and I simply agreed with her 'cause Jessie can be so annoying sometimes. You might come back home tiredly and on entering your room, you find a ghost, who in actual sense is not a ghost but Jessie, trying to scare the hell outta you and I've gotten used to her pranks already.
I smiled as I remembered some of the funny pranks Jessie played on me. I entered the bathroom, had my bath and then dressed up again. I brought out some books to read and when I couldn't even picture what I was reading, I packed up the books. I brought out my phone from my bedside draw to play games and while away time but something else got my attention as I saw Melanie's picture which I used as my wallpaper. Actually my pictures alongside Janet's and Melanie's was cropped and the three of us used it as our wallpapers.
As my mind drifted off to Melanie, I remembered her incessant questioning concerning my gloomy look recently. I can't really point out the main reason for my change in behavior recently but I'm sure it's because of the strange dreams I've been having that surprisingly I can't remember the next day. I sighed and just then my door flung open and Jessie entered. She threw herself at me, hugging me wildly in the process. I frowned while pulling her away from me..
"You've got to stop doing that." "Why?" She pouted. "Cause you're no more a baby." "But I'm still your baby sister" she whined.
"Okay, okay, just let me be for the moment." I said.
"Alright. So how was your day?" She asked.
"Not bad and yours?" I inquired and watched as Jessie began to fill me in on her events for the day. Though most of it weren't new to me anymore because her days mostly revolved around her getting to school on time, helping out girls that are being bullied, sometimes getting punished for being a chatterbox in class, having to drool on her crush and so on.
I stared interestingly at her as she narrated how her day went as though I haven't been hearing the same thing for a couple of weeks now. I looked at her from her dark brown hair, to her ocean blue eyes that always held some sparks, to her perfectly sculpted nose down to her cute lips. I smiled unconsciously at her.
"Hey, what are you thinking about? I've been talking to you for some minutes now but you do not seem to hear me 'cause you've zoned out." She rolled her eyes.
"Hmmn....nothing"
"Okay, can we move to the game room? I'd love to play games with you for now to while away time" she said. "And what happened to your books?" I asked sarcastically.
"Nothing. Come on, don't be that brother now. I'd love to play games now and you know you're my game partner." She pulled my hands, urging me to stand up from my bed and I eventually did.
We stepped out of my room and moved to the game room. We settled down and minutes later we started the game with me being the winner after three successive rounds. That's the issue, no matter how much Jessie practiced, she's never been able to win. I usually mock her with this whenever I need to get on her nerves. "Should we move on to the next level, sis? Do you still need to be beaten again or you're ready to accept me as your boss?" I asked with an hint of mockery.
"Don't worry, we are coming for you." I looked up, somehow shocked. Okay now don't get me wrong, it wasn't the words that shocked me but the voice. It didn't seems like Jessie's voice. It sounds kinda scary and more like what I felt during numerous nightmares I've been having recently.
"Hmmmn, did you say something?" I asked scratching the back of my neck nervously.
"Yeah sure. I said I'm coming for you." She answered. Maybe I was wrong and it was actually Jessie's voice I heard.
"Jessie...let's do this some other time. I'm tired." I stood up and exited the game room with Jessie staring at me confusedly.
**
"We'll help you with the dishes." I heard Jessie telling Vivian.
"Okay, though I insist you don't need to." I heard Vivian reply.
"We need to" I insisted, joining them in the kitchen and placing my hands on Jessie's shoulders.
"Okay then, let's get to work." Jessie yelped and I gave her a smile. We assisted Vivian by helping her to rinse, drain and arrange the plates while she washes it. Minutes later, we were done and we went to the living room to join dad and mom. Dad was busy reading business newspapers and mom was watching some entertainment show.
I sat down on a couch and Jessie joined me. She snuggled up in my arms, while I stroke her hair gently and we joined Mom in watching the show.
Few hours later, I noticed Jessie was dozing off so I suggested she go back to her room to sleep. Few minutes after she left, I stood up to go back to my room as well.
"Good night Dad. Good night Mom." I said and they responded.
Getting to my room,I laid on the bed and had a silent prayer before sleeping off. I also prayed that I shouldn't have the terrifying dream and even if I'm having that, I should at least remember what the dream's content is. If I had known, I wouldn't have prayed for the latter...I wouldn't have wished for the latter. I should have just maintained the first prayer. All because what I saw...was going to be the end of me, what I saw was terrifying. It was death!!!

Melanie's POV"Mom, I'm leaving" I announced as i stepped out of the house. I'm going to school on my own today, Mom was not chanced to take me to school today. She looked a little bit down and it's unlike her so I suggested I'll be on my way to school myself. I strolled out of the building happily and was walking towards the gate when Daisy's voice halted me.."Melanie, wait" she called out and I turned back to face her. She breathed heavily for some moment when she finally got to the place I was standing at."What's the matter Daisy? Why did you stop me?" I asked with concern. It's unlike her as well. She was always eager to see me leave for school because according to her she'd have the building all to herself and would be able to move round the garden all she want. The excuses I considered childish."Melanie" she called as she held unto my hand nervously. I crouched to her h
Suzy's POVMy eyes widened as I stared at the headline which was displaying on the screen. Many students were being wheeled into waiting ambulances. This is tragedic to me even though none had been confirmed dead. They were all injured. My mind surprisingly drifted off to the fact that I had actually met with some students during my meet and greet and was drawn towards three students amidst them.Yeah....a boy and two girls. One of the girls was named ...what's the name again.... yeah... Melanie. I gasped in shock. What if she had been involved in the accident? What if she was one of the brutally injured victims? What if...?"Stop all these 'what ifs'. My subconscious alarmed me. I picked up my phone and dailed George's number. He picked up at the third ring."George, I need your help. Can you come over, please?" I pleaded."Suzy, you know I'm quite busy. You can't just call me anytime. We are trying to organize a concert
Melanie's POV continuesIt was around 6 'o clock in the evening when we got to Doctor James' place. Their maids helped us with our bags and I offered to carry my backpack myself knowing how heavy it could be to them. We entered the house and Jessie was the first person to welcome us."You're finally here. I thought you would never come." She said hugging me. "Megan mom, you look tired." She said as she hugged mom as well. "It's been a while, dear." Mom replied. Daisy, on the other hand, clutched my hand dearly when Jessie crouched to the girl's height. Jessie was literally grinning and I couldn't help but smile. She was obviously happy Daisy's here with us."Hi, I'm Jessica but you can call me Jessie." She said extending her hand for an handshake. Daisy looked at mom and me and I nodded for her to acknowledge Jessie."Hi, I'm Daisy, Melanie's younger sister." She announced innocently and I smiled.
Steve's POVI was dragged back by an unknown force. I was heating up and all my body was aching but I had no escape route. I was giving up already when I saw an entrance and someone came out of somewhere. Instantly I felt the need to cry out for help and I did. The person didn't answer at first but I think after much consideration he or she decided to help me. The person bent down to pull me up and when I tried to look at the person's face, a bright light shone onto my face and I opened my eyes."Good morning" I heard Melanie's cheerful voice I squinted my eyes as I realized the source of the bright light that shone onto my face was from the window she was opening. I sat up and held my head as I felt a throbbing headache."Morning, what says the time?" I asked. "Just 7 'o clock in the morning" she said as she seems undisturbed by the fact that we're running late. "What the hell?!" I exclaimed as I stood up hurriedly. D
Unknown's POV"What the hell have you done?" I screamed at the young girl who was on her knees."I'm sorry, your highness." She pleaded."You know this isn't the right time for her to discover anything about her true natures. Her powers are not complete yet. She can't exercise them yet." I shouted at the poor girl in fury. She's ruined everything."I'm sorry, your highness." She kept on repeating the same plea."You're sorry. I know you're sorry. But will that fix the damage this would cause?" I demanded. She bowed her head. I turned my back to her as I ran my fingers through my waist-lengthed hair."But your highness, she would have been defiled by those animals." She tried to prove her point."And that does not warrant you helping her through the band. You've exposed her to Sage. He would look f
Steve's POVI woke up the next morning to get ready for school. I proceeded to take my bath. As the water drizzled down, different thoughts drowned my mind. The nightmares had reduced since the movie night. That was the last time I had that dream and I am grateful. Then, Melanie, a lot happened to her yesterday and it was to be topped by her inability to speak. I don't know how she will cope till she's finally able to speak. I stepped out of the bathroom, dressed up fully for school and left my room."Good morning" I greeted as I sat down at the dining table. It seems I got dressed a little bit late 'cause every other member of the family was present, even Daisy, the youngest."Good morning son." Mom answered. I glanced at Melanie and she mouthed a "good morning" but to me it seems as if she said it clearly."Can you speak now?" I asked but she shook her head negatively. Probably it's my illusion.
Melanie's POVIt's been a week now since that incident but thankfully with serious sessions, I've been able to get my voice back. The doctor told me it came back quickly because the case isn't that serious. I missed school as well but thanks to my two best friends, I could cover up for the lost time. Janet helped with the notes while Steve helped with the tutoring. Within two days, I got back on track.Thinking about family, Steve's family has been accommodating. We still haven't left their house. Though I'm starting to feel we're overstaying but who was I kidding? We've just used a week and some days and there are times we stayed there for months so I don't think they would have issues with us staying for more than a week.Mom...well I haven't noticed anything unusual about mom. Even the morning after I had that dream, I looked at her carefully and found nothing unusual. I didn't even remember to ask her anything.
Janet's POVI'm pissed off right now. I mean how could Melanie just allow that girl to slap her numerous times? Even when Steve came in her defense, she stopped him from reacting and I know even when Melanie didn't stop him, he wouldn't be able to slap or do anything to Nancy. He does not like using his hands on girls. I think I've had enough of Nancy and her tantrums. I need to inform Dad about this."She's awake" Steve announced as I rushed to the room she was placed in."What made her faint?" I faced the nurse in charge of the school's sick bay."She has fever but I've given her some medications to subdue it. And why is her face so red?" The nurse asked in concern."She was slapped." I sighed."What the hell? You guys should report the person who did that. Just take a look at her face." She pointed to Melanie's face.It was pale making the red marks of Nancy's fingers evident. I lo
