Rotimi's p.o.v

"Hey man, what's up. Aren't you supposed to be working on your project now?" Jacob's deep voice startled me. I was almost lost thinking about the girl I thought was dead at that moment.

As I sat at my perfect spot overlooking the beautiful pine trees I couldn't stop fantasizing about her. I was supposed to be working on my new song but I just couldn't concentrate at all. My mind was elsewhere.

"I had to take a small break. I feel tired," I lied faking a smile to conceal my nervousness. His piercing glare made me uncomfortable. I wanted to excuse myself and walk away but he trapped me.

"What were you doing in Moreno's house?" he asked as he gently patted my shoulder. I composed myself to hide my fear. His dark obsidian eyes looked scary and devilish.

I could feel his warm breath right on my ear. "I went to check on her, she's... She was my old class mate in elementary school," I lied again.

I had seen her a couple of times before. Many times she had refused to talk to me.

"You are so young to realise what danger you are running into," he said softly as he took a few steps ahead of me. He sipped from the glass and tightly closed his eyes as as if his throat was under fire.

We were used to each other. The leader of the secret gang and my producer at the same but today he was just more concerned.

"They are my friends but I killed their own not just because I was paid. It was part of my revenge to them for messing up with my stuff!" He snarled at me.

Revenge?

"I will let you know what am talking about later. Don't tell me you are in love with that bitch! I will just get her killed if you ever do such a filthy thing!" He barked authoritatively.

What the fuck! I muttered. Somebody told him that I was there? He got everything got correct about me. How? I remained silent and looked away into the whistling pine trees.

"I know what love can do. The next thing you will be telling her how you murdered Monique. You will do it now or later... Because of love. Just don't fall in love with her!" He said before he strode away in hurry.

No, not me. Of course I won't tell her anything but the fact was I was not going to back because of mere threats.

With my mission done and dusted I was soaring high in the sky. It was the fame I was going after... But on the way I got Charlotte sad and dejected. That stopping and checking on her would land me in trouble would land me in trouble?

I didn't care. I liked Carolene Rihanna but I loved Charlotte despite that I had known her for a few days again. But I don't know whether she was dead or alive. Moreno and his friend are ruthless animals.

She was not safe in their hands at all. I plodded around aimlessly. An evening in Los Angeles was always great anad fine. I believed just in a few years the city would be humming my songs.

Every radio stations would be playing my hit songs. I would become the idol of this great city I believed. Even the mafia bosses would bow down to me in respect.

I was to meet Carolene that evening but I decided against it and instead chose to check on my crush.

Evening shadows deepened into black and purple as the retreated. Watching the horizon drain of color was picturesque and breathtaking.

"It's a disgrace to have such a leech as you in this family," the familiar female voice got my attention as I sneaked into the apartment using the back door.

I knew who she was, Charlotte's mother. The one Kinsley Dorabella. It was the resounding slap that almost made change my motives at the eleventh hour.

"You ain't going anywhere bitch! Just get back to your f**king room and starve from the there!" She barked before slapping her again. I sneaked into her room way before she could get there. I had brought her some snacks.

She limped into the room crying. How on Earth could I tell the killer was just right before her. The same guy who was giving her the best attention.

"What the hell are you doing here?" She asked while covering her mouth in shock. I just brought out the snacks and gave her without saying a word.

She broke down afresh into tears. Her sad face was fine to look at. I don't know why but she looked fine when she was sad. The traces of tears on her beautiful cheeks were like ornaments decorated on her face.

"As it looks am going to die here. This house is more a prison to me. I can't even tell what they are planning for me. Am just like a mere insect in someone's hand," sh said as she stared at the ceiling.

"For now just eat... Everything else will come later."

"I don't what to get you into this. Thanks for the snacks," she glanced at me.

"We are already in this together. You have to worry less... You know. We will getting out of this f**king city once and for all," I said as I wrapped my hand across her shoulders.

She continued to eat the snacks in silence while glancing at me. I could read her mind like the back of my mind. The poor girl was an introvert and she didn't have to know that I would be the last person she could associate with.

My soul was dark like the right pocket of my favorite black jacket which was currently the home of my pistol. I was not going to leave unless...

"I don't know you," she whispered.

I was about to respond when the resounding knock on the door terrified me. The knock came gain this time louder than before.

"What the hell is happening, Charlotte open this door f**king bitch!" Someone cursed. If Jacob knew I was there again... I would be screwed.
