CHAPTER HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SIX

“Jared.” I whispered.

Ryan turned to look at me with an arched brow.

“You know him?” I was going to say ‘you don’t?’ considering the fact that we worked for Jared by protecting some, if not most, of his assets.

“Yeah. He’s my fiancee.” Before he could say anything, I opened the car door and ran out to go meet him.

I slowed down my pace when I saw that his gaze was fixated on the man whose car I’d just come out of.

“Hey.” He snapped his head to me and I almost cowered back. His jaw was locked and he seemed thoroughly pissed.

“I called.” I’d expected that the first question he’d ask me was ‘who is that?’

“I’m sorry. My phone was on silent. I had a lot of work to do and I didn’t want to be distracted.” It sounded like I considered him a distraction, I men technically, he was but I hadn’t meant it in that way.

Jared didn’t say any other thing and I was somewhat scared.

Ryan chose that moment to get out of his car and he approached us.
