I rushed into the hospital with the money held close to my chest, hurrying into the room where my mom was.

Three doctors were present in there talking to her.

Perhaps discussing the bad sides that would occur, if she wasn't treated at once. Oh, how much they loved divulging not so good news.

Every one of them.

Can't wait to see the shock on their faces when I present the whole lot of the money to them.

"I have the money, doctor." I said amidst panting, my loud voice did so much in getting each of their attention as they placed all focus on me.

"You have to start immediately." I added.

No utterance came from any of the men, they all just remained staring at me, watching as I waved the stack of currency before their eyes.

"How much do you have there ?" One of them asked

"I don't know"

"I don't care"

My breathing was heavy, beads of sweat all over my face, while I moved over to the wall, trying to steady myself and taking in deep breaths.

They all stared at me like I was crazy.

I went over to my mom, and laid all of the money on the bed. Tears fell from my eyes as I stared at the huge amount of money in front of me.

Couldn't even tell how much it was in total.

I gave the doctor I had grown familiar with, part of it while I kept the remaining.

He looked at me then nodded at the other doctors.

"We'll begin immediately." He called out.

They all turned, walking out immediately.

I turned to look at my mother.

"Nia, where did you get all that money from?" She asked as soon as the doctors walked out.

"Doesn't matter. All that matters is that you're gonna be fine." I called in a low voice, my frail fingers stroking her cheeks.

"Don't tell me you stole that money, Nia" she uttered in a stern voice, eyes boring at me.

I remained silent, my gaze away from her.

"I had to do it mom, I can't watch you die. I've lost dad already. I don't wanna lose you too." I said quietly.

"I didn't raise you to steal!" I heard her snap.

"No matter what happens, don't ever succumb to stealing. You know better than to-

"Your life is at stake here!" I retorted.

"I don't want you worrying about anything. Definitely not about me. I'll be fine."

The door tore open, followed by doctors and nurses.

They took me aside, then gently lifted my mother up. I watched as they placed her on a stretcher then moved her to the operating theatre.

With tears streaming down my face, I watched her go.

I paced up and down the waiting room of the hospital. Hours and hours had passed since my mom was taken into the operating room. What was going on? I asked myself.

Having decided to take a seat, while feeling tired already, I took a glance at the clock on the wall.

6:00 a.m.

"Morning already?" I said to no one in particular.

So worried about my mom, I didn't even bother sleeping. I had stayed up all night praying and waiting for the surgeons to come out and tell me everything was okay.

Two hours passed and still nothing.

I felt a hand on my shoulder, and the moment I turned around, I saw a nurse peering at my figure.

"Are you okay?" She asked me, her voice filled with much concern.

"No. I'm not" I replied in a shaky voice.

"My mom has been in the operating room for hours. How long does it take to perform a heart transplant?" I asked frustratedly.

Just then, the same doctor which I was very familiar with walked out, moving towards me.

"How is she? I need to see her. Please let me see her." I said all at once.

"Calm down. We can't let you see her right now" He replied.

"Well how is she?" I asked

"It's hard to say for now" The man spoke immediately.

"Right now, I'll advise you to go home, get something to eat, have a bath and feel relaxed. I don't want you worrying about anything. But I promise you, we'll try everything possible to help your mom."

He patted me on my back then walked away.

Tears filled my eyes. I couldn't lose my mom. I just couldn't.

I slowly walked out of the hospital, as lot of thoughts filled my mind.

Meanwhile, at the Williams mansion..

Cameron's room was in a complete disorder. He emptied the envelope on his bed for the seventh time, letting out groans of frustration, while throwing his things here and there.

The last time he had checked, he knew he had a total of two thousand dollars but now, he could only find approximately half of it.

Unable to contain his anger, he kicked at the vase on his dresser, causing the object shattering to the ground.

A figure at that moment walked in.

Logan.

Eyes accessing the state of the room, brows raised in confusion.

"What the hell is going on?" He voiced his thoughts, while examining the contents sprawled on the floor.

No reply came from Cameron.

He only lett out huffs and low grunts, while his chest heaved uncontrollably.

After enough silence, Logan gave a shrug while opening his lips to speak, and letting his business known.

"Anyways" He began, kicking at the mess on the floor with his feet.

"was wondering if you could lend Tyler and I five hundred bucks. We'll pay you back immediately.

"We just need to give it to that bum so he could go with us to the party."

At the mention of this, Cameron spun around at once, staring on at the figure of Logan.

"So it was you who took the money." He called immediately, already advancing towards Logan with enough rage in his eyes.

"What money?" Followed the response from the boy away.

"Give the money back, now!" Cameron yelled, taking a stop feet away.

"Relax, okay. I didn't take any money." Logan replied

"what's going on in here?" The voice of Mrs Williams interrupted both boys, as she made her presence known.

"Your son here, stole my money." Cameron uttered at once, eyes boring at Logan.

"Oh, would you please tell YOUR son to stop accusing me?" Logan followed.

"The both of you, stop it!." Mrs Williams snapped, her eyes shifting at their figures.

"How much are you looking for?" She asked.

"Over a thousand dollars. I had it in here. Now all of a sudden, it's gone." He fumed, moving around the room, still uncovering every part.

"Did you take it?" The lady turned to Logan.

"Of course not!"

"I was just asking him to lend me a couple bucks"

Cameron let out a sigh at Logan's utterance, and after a brief pause, he moved over to his mom.

Placing his hands on her shoulders, he took in a deep breath.

"Mom" Voice so low, so calm.

"Could you please convince dad to give the money to me?"

"Your father isn't giving any money whatsoever to you. He handed that money to you few weeks ago. You can't lie that the money is lost just to get another one from him." Mrs Williams spoke at once

"I'm not lying!. Someone took the money" Cameron made known.

"Then, who?" She asked

"I don't know!"

He grunted aloud, moving to the other end of the room.

"Well, no one has been in here" He heard his mother say.

"It's been only you and that girl who comes home with you every single day" Mrs Williams uttered

"She does have a name, mom. And she's my girlfriend."

Cameron uttered, like his mother knew not who Savannah was.

Logan scoffed at his words, seemingly uninterested.

He moved over to the bed, about taking a sit, when he spotted a used condom on the floor.

Peering intently at it, he turned around to the figure of Cameron.

"You're already having sex?" He faked a shocked expression, causing a glare from Cameron.

Mrs Williams turned to Cameron at once, eyes widening a bit.

"Don't tell me you're already engaging yourself in-"

"I'm not a kid mom" He interjected, jaw tightening at once.

"I'm seventeen, soon to be eighteen." He added.

"Well good for you. Go look for the money." Mrs Williams uttered

"Mom!"

"Go tell one of the maids to clean up this mess."

She uttered, right before stepping out of the room.

Meanwhile, Logan chuckled endlessly, amusement already filling his eyes, while he walked out of the room right after Mrs Williams.

It took a brief moment for Cameron realizing that there was a maid in his room yesterday.

That maid. He thought.

Throwing the envelope on the bed, he dashed out of the room, anger coursing through his veins.
