Chapter 60 - The Girl on the Floor
Lunaya.
Zelena was on the floor, unconscious. I was still holding her hand in mine, but everything else was a blur. I felt dizzy, and nauseous. What the fuck just happened? Before I could gather my thoughts and get my bearings back, I was hauled off my feet and my back was slammed hard against the wall. I could swear there will be an indent of my body in the plastering. A feral growl made the whole room shake and I was snapped back to reality. My airway was being blocked and my feet were no longer touching the ground. But that wasn’t what concerned me. What did, was my child, laying comatose on the floor.
The room burst into a whirlwind of commotion. Gunner and his mother ran to the side of my daughter. Elaine, Alyse and the others all prepared to attack. The sounds of growls and yelling echoed around the room until it all mixed together in one undecipherable sound. Zelena. The sky was a clear crystal blue and the bright sunlight twinkled on the top of the water. Coming to the beach was a fantastic idea. I wanted time to just relax and hang out with my friends, even if Cole was still a no show. The soft white sand felt great under my feet. I curled my toes and dug them under the sand. Lunaya.“I think you’re being irrational” Alyse snapped at me. We had been going around in circles having the same argument all morning.“I’m not being irrational, I'm trying to do the right thing” I groaned once again.“How is that the right thing?” Alyse yelled. After our talk with Gunner last night and the revelation about Zelena and her relationship with Selene, I agreed to keep my distance. Alyse however thinks I'm being stupid and that I'm just scared of her rejecting me in favour of Selene. I mean, she’s not wrong, but she isn’t totally right either. Gunner told me very little about her upbringing at the hands of that filthy hunter. I don’t know the details, but enough to know that her childhood was hell.
