I stared at her dumbfounded by the revelation. What does she mean by that?
"I don't really understand. What's going on?" I said to myself as I stared around. I noticed the various instruments around, even those I wasn't able to recognize.
She left where I was and headed to a machine that looked like a scan.
"I found some virus in your system when you were unconscious and i think they have a hand to do with all of this," She replied as if she knew what was going through my mind.
Virus? What virus was she talking about?
"Is it contagious?" Fear was written all over my face as my lips parted hard to say those words bit by bit.
A chuckle rang out then she turned to me.
"If it was really that contagious the lord would have been the first to contact it. Tell me…," She paused as she said this and my head tilted sideways in confusion.
What does she want to ask from me? I thought inwardly as I kept on staring at her.
"What is it?" I asked. I felt a gush of cold wind brush against my skin and I stared at her calmly, shivering silently.
"How's the relationship between his highness and you?" She asked and my brows shot up.
" I wouldn't say it's something that I can say it's good. Or we are cool," I thought inwardly but outside I made signs and shook my head after.
"Are you scared of him?"She asked, her gaze on me.
" No, why?" I shook my head and gave her a questioning look.
" He is very selective,'' she replied. I frowned upon hearing this.
How was he selective? What was she talking about?
"I do not understand," I made signs and then gave her a confused look.
She smiled then said,"What I'll say is this. You have to be careful with his highness. He is known among the leaders of the 6 regions as the most notorious and cold blooded of them all,"
" He picks on every small detail and… he kills a lot of people just for the sake of satisfying his own benefits," She sighed helplessly.
"What are you talking about?" my hands moved rapidly as I tried to make up the words that were running through my mind. She smiled then walked up to me, her hands glowing.
"It's better you don't know much about him yet or worse get too close to him. Because, you will be the one to get hurt," She advised.
But I felt the mate pull from him on the first day we met. Is it that I am being paired with a cold hearted person?
The one who kills people just to satisfy his desires?
I was confused but at this moment. There was no way I could prove that she was lying or speaking the truth.
"I'll call the guards to come take you back to your room. You need a little rest," She replied and almost immediately a door to my left opened and the familiar mask appeared again.
Absent-mindedly I nodded at her as I slowly made my way to the door. Soon I was walking in an unfamiliar hallway that was strangely too quiet.I wasn't able to pay attention to the surroundings as I was completely lost in thoughts.
"You can get in now," They tapped my shoulder and my head raised to see that I was standing before my door.
I stared at them for a while, signed and then entered the room without hesitation.
I was sitting on my bed deep in thoughts. All these don't make sense to me and it confuses me more.
"All these are so confusing. I wonder where I am putting myself. This is terrible," I signed heavily as I took a deep breath then stared at the ceiling. I laid on the bed, took a sip of the bottle water on the drawer then slowly fell asleep.
I hope this time around I am not going to wake up in the lab. These thoughts crossed my mind multiple times and I had no choice but to leave the answers unknown.
. . .I didn't know what time it was but a light knock jolted me out of my sleep. My eyes slowly opened to see the familiar ceiling, a wave of fatigue washed over my body like water and slowly I got up curious to know who was at the door.
"Who is it this time around?" I muttered to myself as I slowly made way to the door. There was no peephole for me to check who it was so I had no choice but to try recognizing the person's scent.
"Hum?" I shook my head and slowly I opened the door and saw a young boy staring at me with large blue eyes and thick long eyelashes.
I was dumbfounded at that moment and shocked by his beauty. What's this child doing here and where are the guards?
Aren't they meant to guard the door against anybody?
I focused my gaze on the boy as I tried to force out the words of 'what are you doing here boy'
But my lips were sealed from doing so."His highness asked of you," He announced, his voice calm and naive. My head moved vertically twice as slowly so I closed the door and left with him.
Although I felt tired and exhausted earlier, seeing his face, all that was gone.
"Please here," He extended his hand in a certain direction and that was when I noticed that we were standing at the Alpha's door.
Even though I've seen him before my heart didn't stop racing. The more I see him the more unrest and heavy my heart becomes.
I was slowly getting away from my hiding spot. Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door slightly.
"It's open," His cold and authoritative voice responded. I smiled then pushed the door opened, only to see him behind the desk busy with files.
'I'm here Alpha, what is the problem?'
Aurelia's POV"Why aren't you asking about your people? Aren't you curious to know if they come looking for you? Or if they missed you? Since you came here you have never shown any reluctance to leave. I wonder why it's so?" He threw hundreds of questions at me and I don't even know which one of them I should answer first. He shot me a look and a frown replaced his cold expression. He stared at the door and then at me."Aren't you coming in?" He asked, coldly. Subconsciously I flinched back and held the door.A smirk crossed his lips but that was all he didn't do anything. Why was I shivering? Am I that scared of him or what about what he said?My people came looking for me but why? Am I not the insignificant princess again? What more do they want from me?I let go of the door, took a deep breath and then strode inside the room with silent steps. I looked around and noticed the well furniture room. There was a shelf at the end of the room and the curtain was loose preventing the light
Alpha Dante's POV"What is to report all about?" I asked her immediately, I saw the fragile girl leaving.Danciana stared at me with an expressionless gaze."It's about one of the warriors in the pack. I noticed that he has been injured internally and it's affecting his inner beast," She kept the file on the desk and pushed it towards me while still maintaining eye contact.I ignored the look she gave me as I don't have the luxury to explain myself to people."How did this happen?" I asked her and she shook her head then said."Either one of the enemies during the last confrontation used a forbidden tool on him and that's why he has been like this for weeks now. I am afraid if we don't find out what tool was used on him. He is going to die," She stated calmly. My fist curled into a fist as I read the report. I took a deep breath and then fell into deep thoughts." What about Lucas?" I asked."Where is he and what is he doing concerning this matter?" I asked and she smiled."I've not
Alpha Dante's POV I stared at Aurelia, my voice tinged with a mix of amusement and superiority as I delivered the words I knew would sting. "Your mother doesn't want to see you again," I told her, a smirk playing on my lips. Aurelia's eyes met mine, a flicker of hurt and confusion passing through them before she shifted her attention to the book she held in her hands. She began writing in it, her pen swiftly gliding across the pages, as if seeking solace in the act of putting her thoughts into words. Her silence grated on my nerves, and I couldn't resist taunting her further. "So, you still want to go home, huh? Even if your mother doesn't want you?" I let out a loud, mocking laugh, relishing in the power I held over her emotions. It was satisfying to see her discomfort, to witness the cracks forming in her resolve. Curiosity got the better of me, and I leaned in closer, narrowing my eyes at her. "What do you think you'll find at home, Aurelia? A warm embrace? Love? Acceptance?" My
Alpha Dante's POVI focused my attention back on the document spread out before me, the weight of responsibility pressing upon my shoulders. The room fell silent after Aurelia's departure, but I could feel Danciana's gaze fixed upon me. Curiosity got the better of me, and I looked up, meeting her intense gaze. There was a hint of concern in her eyes, as if she had sensed something amiss."Why are you staring at me like that?" I asked, trying to maintain a composed demeanor.Danciana hesitated for a moment before gathering her thoughts and responded, "I'm sorry, Alpha Dante. It's just that you seemed distant, lost in your thoughts. I wanted to make sure everything was alright."I sighed inwardly, appreciating her genuine concern. "I appreciate your concern, Danciana," I replied, offering her a small smile. "But rest assured, I'm fine. We have important matters at hand, and it's crucial that we focus on our duties."Danciana nodded, her eyes still fixed on me. "Of course, Alpha Dante. I
Aurelia's POVI quickly jumped up to my feet the moment I heard the room door open. My heart raced in my chest as I stood trembling, hoping it wasn't Alpha Dante coming to punish me for trying to escape earlier. But to my relief, it was Danciana, the pack's doctor, who entered the room. She approached me with a kind smile, asking how I was doing and how my night was. I desperately wished I could answer her verbally, but my voice had been taken from me.Danciana handed me a book and a pen, signaling for me to scramble my response upon its pages. I took the pen with shaky hands and wrote down that I wasn't fine. She glanced at my words and nodded, understanding the weight of my suffering. "It's normal for you to not be fine, Aurelia," she said softly, her eyes filled with empathy. "You have a mate who doesn't care about you, who only wants to hurt you." The truth of her words struck me deep, and I trembled at the realization of my predicament.Danciana closed the door, creating a sense
Danciana's POVAs Alpha Dante left the room, a wave of relief washed over me. I had just finished a conversation with Aurelia that could potentially have serious consequences. I couldn't help but wonder if Dante had overheard our exchange. Although his demeanor seemed unchanged, I couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that I needed to err on the side of caution.I turned to Aurelia, who was still writing her response on the book. I knew I had to play it cool, so I smiled and said, "Aurelia, let's continue this conversation another time. I think we both need a break right now. We can start the speech therapy class later, alright?"Aurelia paused, her gaze flickering between me and the book. She seemed slightly puzzled but nodded in agreement and wrote in the book. "Sure, Danciana. I understand. We can pick up where we left off later. Take care of yourself, okay?""Thank you, Aurelia," I replied, trying to mask my anxiety. "You take care too. We'll make progress together, I promise." W
Aurelia's POVI sat on the cold, hard floor of my cramped room, feeling the weight of exhaustion seeping into my bones. My mind was clouded with a mix of fear, frustration, and desperation. Each passing day felt like an eternity, and I yearned for freedom with an intensity that consumed me.Suddenly, the familiar sound of the door clicking open snapped me out of my reverie. I looked up to see Lucas, one of the pack members, entering the room carrying a tray of food. He placed it on the small table and announced that my meal was ready. The aroma of warm, nourishing food wafted through the air, enticing my senses.I rose from the floor, my body aching and protesting the movement. With weary steps, I approached Lucas, who stood there watching me. As I reached him, I mustered all the courage I had left and gently placed my hands around his neck, standing on my toes to bring myself closer to him. His eyes widened with surprise, and he cautiously asked what I was doing. My heart pounded in
Danciana's POVI was seated in my plush office chair, engrossed in the endless stream of paperwork that cluttered my desk. The monotony of the day had settled in, and I yearned for something to break the tedium. Just as the thought crossed my mind, my phone jingled, shattering the silence that enveloped the room.Startled, I quickly reached for the device, eager to find out who could be reaching out to me at this hour. I swiped my finger across the screen and brought it to my ear, "Hello?" I greeted, my voice tinged with curiosity.A voice, familiar yet somewhat distant, resonated through the receiver. "Hey, it's Dylan," he said, his tone hesitant but unmistakable. Dylan, Aurelia's stepbrother. I hadn't spoken to him in quite some time, so his unexpected call piqued my interest even further.A small smile tugged at the corners of my lips. "Dylan, it's been a while," I replied warmly, my mind racing to recall our last encounter. "No need to go into details about yourself; I remember yo
