Chapter 13 Your Card has been Frozen

Around 9 o'clock. The sky was clear and the weather was delightful. Charlotte got out of the taxi and walked toward the Courthouse. As she got closer, she noticed there seemed to be more estranged couples than loving ones.

It reminded her of the day they were supposed to obtain their marriage certificate. Griffith did not show up on that day and she waited in vain all morning until she received a call, saying that everything had been taken care of. Later, she found out just how much he resented their marriage.

Charlotte looked around when she arrived in front of the Courthouse, but she couldn't find Griffith's car. She thought he must still be at Katie's place, perhaps still sleeping. She quickly sent him a text to remind him to be on time, but he did not reply.

She frowned down at her phone as she realized it had been like this for years. She would eagerly anticipate his reply, but he would not even respond. It was almost 10 o'clock and the line outside the Courthouse got longer. S
