Chapter 03

Alex and Adaline's positions were now out of alignment after Adaline turned around.

Alex, who had moved his body quickly to push Adaline made him lose his balance and finally fell.

“NO! ALEX!”

Adaline immediately screamed hysterically when she saw her husband fall into the ocean.

Tears were shed and extraordinary fear came over her. She was so afraid that Alex didn't survive.

Shortly after, she saw Alex start swimming towards the shore and finally made it safely.

Arriving at the beach, Alex lay down and tried to catch his breath normally again.

His feelings were now immediately overpowered by resentment because he had not succeeded in killing Adaline.

“Honey,” called Adaline who had just arrived and approached him with great anxiety. “Are you alright?”

Alex closed his eyes for a moment then opened them again with a face ready to play in front of Adaline as usual.

“I'm fine, honey,” replied Alex then woke up and sat up.

Adaline immediately hugged Alex with tears of joy because God had saved her husband.

When Alex fell, he wasn't shocked and wasn't scared at all because he knew he would survive because he could swim.

Adaline also knows that her husband can swim. However, she thought about other bad things that could happen to her husband at sea. One of them is the existence of a wild fish that preys on Alex.

Some of the few visitors who were quite far from them of course saw when Alex fell into the sea, but they thought Alex was deliberately jumping in to swim. So no one came close to confirming their situation.

“Don't cry, honey. I'm okay,” Alex said as he let go of Adaline's hug and then gently wiped her tears.

“The moment before you fall, I saw your hand as if it wanted to push me. Do you want to push me, Alex?”

Adaline's question immediately took Alex in shock. Fortunately, a few seconds after that an idea to keep up the charade came to him.

“I wanted to hug you, not push you. There's no way I would want to do that to a woman I love so much.”

“So apparently. I'm sorry, honey. I have been prejudiced against you.”

“It's okay, honey. It's me who should be apologizing to you. We came here to ease your mind, but what happened to me must have caused you even more stress.”

“Don't worry about it, honey. Better now we go home. You should immediately change clothes so as not to catch a cold. You just rest in the car, let me drive.”

Alex nodded his head. After that, Adaline took his hand and they went home.

Upon arrival at the home page. They met Mrs. Caroline, who had just arrived and was escorted home by Aaron Laurent, Adaline's best friend.

When saw Alex coming home soaked. This immediately shocked Mrs. Caroline.

“Oh, my God! What has happened to you, my son-in-law? Why did you come home all wet like this?”

“Earlier we went to the beach, Mom, then I accidentally slipped into the ocean area so my clothes got wet like this. It's just an ordinary slip. So you don't need to worry,” replied Alex with a smile.

Adaline smiled. She supports Alex not telling his mother the truth so her mother doesn't worry.

“So apparently. Thank goodness you two are okay.”

“Then, why did you get to go home with Aaron?” Adaline asked.

“Earlier, Aaron came to the hospital to see Chris' condition. After that, he tried to calm Mommy down and asked Mommy to come home to calm down for a while.”

Aaron has been best friends with Adaline since they were children. They can know each other because they live in the same housing. They also attend the same school from elementary school to university.

Their close friendship makes them feel like siblings. Their parents are also very close like a family.

Of course, Alex never felt the slightest bit angry with their closeness because he never loved Adaline. So he didn't have the slightest bit of jealousy with their closeness.

“Aaron, can you accompany Adaline to play a PlayStation game for a while until I finish taking a bath? At least that can make Adaline a little calm. After that, if you want to go home, you can go home.”

“Okay, I'll accompany Adaline until you finish bathing, Alex,” Aaron replied with a smile.

Mrs. Caroline went to rest in her room, Alex went to take a shower, and Aaron and Adaline played PlayStation in Chris's room.

Adaline obeyed her husband who kept trying to cheer her up.

“I'm bored, Aaron,” Adaline said as she put down the joystick after ten minutes of playing. “I think I want to end the game here. Thank you for accompanying me. If you want to go home, you can go home now.”

“Adaline, I have something important to discuss with Alex, it's about work. I think I am interested to cooperate with Alex's company.”

“You can meet him in the room. I want to relax first in this my brother's room.”

Meanwhile, Alex sits on his bed massaging the back of his neck after taking a shower and getting dressed.

A few minutes later, his second cell phone rang. He then picked up the phone on the balcony of the room.

Alex picked up the phone with a smile because the phone is a special phone to call his parents.

Of course, Alex always had the clever idea of getting away from the Herberts while on the phone with his parents.

“Alex, are you in there?” called Aaron who had just arrived in front of Alex's room whose door was not closed.

After that, Aaron stepped inside to look for Alex. Until then he saw Alex talking on the phone on the balcony.

“Alex, it's Mom. I miss you so much, Son. Our meeting earlier which was very brief cannot cure Mom's longing for you.”

“I still miss you and Dad very much too. Mom happened to call me. There's something I want to tell you, dear Mrs. Robertson.”

“What is it, my son?”

“Earlier I found a way to kill Adaline and I have done it, but all failed. I feel very upset because my plan didn't go as smoothly as my plan to kill Chris.”

Unknownst to Alex, Aaron overheard his conversation with his mother.
