"Anna" I hear as soft as a whisper and then a scraping noise coming from my closet.
Cautiously uncovering my head, I am so scared that I feel myself shivering, but I still climb out of bed and stand up. Hearing the scraping noise again, I take a step in the general direction of the closet. However, when I hear my name again being called, I run back to the security of my covers and hide underneath them.
Shaking uncontrollably, I stay under the covers and listen carefully for any sounds. What I hear next chills me to the bone and I find myself peeing the bed. Next to me, I feel a slight disturbance in the air flow and then I hear it. "Anna." A distinctely male voice screeches.
It hurts my ears because it is so close and when I end up covering them with my hands, it pulls the covers off of me quickly. Revealing the source of the sound, my heart stops for a beat and then I black out.

I start to rifle through the old musty smelling box of books that had been left on my porch, when I notice a little children’s book. I see the symbol of the Golden Children’s Books printed on it, then a little sticker on the binding indicating that it belongs to the library catches my eye. Examining it closer, the pages are bent back and discolored, but the book is still in suitable condition. My nails peel at the tape as I fidget and try to figure out what to do next.Taking a deep breath, I open the cover to discover that there is a single name on the inside. Nelli Stillson. Looking over the name and tracing it with my fingers I wonder how the book found its way into this box.“Should I return it to the library or to the little girl? Most likely the library has written it off a while ago as missing and bought a new one. So perhaps I will find the little girl’s family and return it to he
We continue the rest of the tour until we come to the stairs. “Upstairs, is Nelli’s part of the house. She has her own library, a playroom, a gaming room, an indoor pool and anything else she needs up here. You will notice that she doesn’t ever come downstairs. It’s just best that way. Now let’s go meet her. I do ask one thing. Don’t ever directly look into her eyes. It tends to upset her. She also might be quite sleepy because it is getting close to her bedtime.” “Ok. Sure.” I give him this not so happy smile as I am not sure after all this that suddenly I want to meet her. Something is quite off about all of this. By now the hairs are pricking the back of my neck so hard that I could swear I was shocked with an electrical current. Suddenly I see a flash run down the stairs and to the front door. I look at Mr. Stillson shockingly as he falls backwards and topples a couple steps
Emily glances up at the sun shining brightly off the windows and decides today is the day. She will get her friend Jenna to go geocaching with her and get her addicted to it as much as she is. After all, Jenna needs to get over Aaron. She has been so upset about her fiancé dumping her at their wedding, that she just doesn't want to do anything with Emily. So, she must take matters into her own hands. "How do I persuade her to come with me? I have it all set up. I just have to find a way to make Jenna want to. Maybe I could tell her that sometimes I find unusual things that are interesting. I can tell her about the time that I opened a Altoids tin and a diamond ring was hidden inside." &
Jessie wakes up and looks out the window to find a powdering of pure white snow on the ground with big fluffy chunks coming down. How beautiful! She thinks to herself. She wondered why it had been so cold the night before. Originally it was only supposed to get down to 45 degrees. However, when she woke up in the middle of the night and had to pull up her blanket, she knew it had gotten far colder. Now if she could just make herself go out and enjoy it. That would be amazing, especially considering she has an extreme case of agoraphobia. She hadn't been outside her home for 6 years and she knows full well that it has been too long. As she stares out the window watching the flakes swirl through the air, she wonders if the neighbor kids will be going to school today. After all, usually they call a snow day for the first day of snow at the beginning of the new school year. She always en
From the very moment I stepped foot into this old farmhouse, I felt a dark presence that emanated from every corner. At first, I thought it was just in my head and because I was afraid of the dark it messed with my senses allowing paranoia to set in. The truth of the matter was much worse though. Running out of options, I bought the place because it was dirt cheap, and someone had just abandoned it, so they sold the old place within a few days. If I remember right, the closing was within a week of seeing the house in the first place. That should have been the very first indicator of a problem, but I was too blind to see it till later. My husband at the time, believed in things that went bump in the night but wasn’t as scared as I have always been, so he would tend to make fun of me, even though he had never seen things like I had. The minute I took one look at this beautiful old farmhouse with original hard wood floors and that it
Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath and then hold it for ten seconds. When I take another, I find that something feels different. I can sense a presence. Not wanting to really find out what is in the room with me, I pull the covers even higher over my head and I don’t open my eyes for nothing. Eventually, I drift off to sleep after I feel that the coast is clear, and my fears have subsided. However, I was not expecting to feel a very cold hand on my arm in the middle of the night, but when I do I start to shake severely. I don’t live with a single soul and my parents had died years ago so it wasn’t them. Not to mention, no one else had keys to my small apartment in the city where break ins are all too common. Is this a burglar checking to see if I am really asleep or a serial killer who wants to get his jollies off hearing me scream? Honestly, I don’t know, and I don’t care just as long as they leave me alone, s
As I start to feel weak and my vision fades to black, the last thing I remember of that moment is his voice, “It will only get better.” Then I black out for a while before awaking to a noise on the outside of the window.A soft tapping noise, like a twig hitting the windowpane in the breeze, or something like that. Opening my eyes, a sharp pain slices through my head like a knife and I feel like ten hangovers hit me at once in vengeance. My stomach is tossing and turning and before I know it, I am forced to open my eyes again and rush to the bathroom to throw up everything I have had for the last day and a half. I only know this, because I had pizza two days ago and I am fairly sure that I saw a piece of pepperoni undigested in the toilet.Feeling that overwhelming need to go to the bathroom, I find that I can’t even pee and all that comes out is some overly smelly gas that smells like something dead. Sitting there for a
Hearing something strange in my backyard, I glance out the window and hear someone or should I say something howling. “Howl” “Howwwwlll” I stop before turning around and walking over to the wall so I can flip on the light switch to my room. Something is definitely odd, because the minute my finger flips the switch, the howling stops. As I stand completely still, I feel a presence in the room with me. Just before I spin on my heels and turn to see what is behind me, I am hit in the back of the head by something hard as it makes a thud that echoes throughout my skull. When I come to, the pain in my head explodes like a bomb went off and I can hear nothing of what is going on in the room around me. Opening my eyes, I see two shapes moving about and on closer inspection I notice that they are quite large and slow moving. One is a woman and looks hairier than most Americans, so I can only assume that they are either of Europea
