Chapter 3

Matteo De Luca's Pov

Have you ever been in a house full of people but still be lonely because that's how l've felt in the last 13 years ever since Alexandra was born

Being a father of 4 boys l was so excited on finally having a girl my little princessa and l was so sure she was going to be a daddy's girl by the way she would react when she was still in her mother's womb everytime l touched jrh mother's stomach she would kick so bad that Selena would complain everytime

Selena and l met at a small restaurant were she used to work while l was there for a business meeting and of course it was love at first sight ,l proposed 5 months after we met and we had our first born Elonzo who is currently 22 at the moment after him came the twins Leone and Leonard who are both 20 ,then came Alexander 16 and 3 years after Alex my wife was pregnant again and we found out it was a girl we had decided to name her Alexandra

My brothers and l were pretty excited about having a girl in the De Luca family after having 12 boys and even Padre was excited because he never had a daughter but he was finally having a granddaughter

I can't even explain the excitement l was feeling the day she was born but it only took one look at her eyes to turn that excitement into sadness, betrayal and hurt

In my whole family we all possess our type of eyes that almost everywhere we go people instantly recognise us ,our strikingly blue ocean eyes but imagine my surprise when my only daughter is born with hazel brown eyes and a bit of red hair

I couldn't hold her that day but l couldn't question my wife either because I feared her answer could destroy our whole family so l tolerated it 

At first tolerating it was okay because somehow l hoped my the baby will get some of my or my family's features but instead she grew more and more different each day 

Alexandra never possessed any De Luca feature even her attitude was different neither mine or all my brothers kids behaved like her from a young age she was always rude towards other people, disrespectful and above all spoilt because of the attention her brothers gave her 

My parents hated her attitude but for me Madre tolerated it but Padre never failed to show his displeasure because as a former Capo Padre obviously hated being disrespected but he kept quiet and as for my brothers they kept their distance from Alexandra just like me 

That was all until 3 years back when Alexandra accused my nephew Xavier of touching her inappropriately and her brothers and mother obviously supported her but my brothers and nephews believed that Xavier could never do something like that and l also new that my nephews and sons maybe in the Mafia but they can never touch a girl without her permission and definitely not their on sister but unfortunately all evidence pointed to him

From that night all of the relationships were broken and from that day my sons and nephews never got along and l was so frustrated that l finally took that DNA test with my wife and my son's knowledge but my brothers, parents and nephews were there with me 

The DNA test proved that Alexandra De Luca was not my daughter and even though l always knew the truth deep down l was heartbroken ,l gave my wife everything even if she asked for the world l would have given it to her then why would she do this to me 

Me being distant from Alexandra drove a wedge between mine and my sons relationship because they thought l was being unfair to their sister

Seeing my wife everyday was a constant reminder of her betrayal so l worked most of the time to avoid seeing her and her daughter but l never failed to be there for my boy and even my nephews because they were always like my sons

Being the leader of the Italian Mafia and also running the De Luca Group kept me occupied that l thought less about my wife cheating or Alexandra's tantrums and focused more in on making my company and the Mafia the best 

I was busy with my work when my PA called me to tell me that l had a call from the Mater Dei hospital concerning my daughter

The hospital had called to inform me that Alexandra was in an accident and was hit by a car so l quickly called Elonzo and the twins as they all work here along with some of their cousins

"Is something wrong" Elonzo said as the 3 of them entered my office

"Yes it's about your sister" l Tod them and they instantly just stood up and started talking altogether

"Is she okay"

"What did you do"

"Tell me who l should kill"

"ENOUGH" l raised my voice so that they could stop talking

"I got a call from the hospital your sister was in an accident and they need us there so let's go" l said

"Couldn't you have said that already we would have been on our way by now" Leone snapped at me but l let it slide because it's about their sister

Time skip

When the boys and l reached the hospital Selena was already there and she was crying

Selena hug the boys as they comforted each other while l just stood there watching them nomatter how much l disliked Alexandra at the end of the day she wasn't the one who cheated on my so l really felt sorry for her because even if it wasn't my choice legally she was still my daughter

Alex came in the hospital running probably and hugged me and l comforted him telling him everything was going to be fine no matter how big my boy was he still needed his father and l was always there when he needed me

"Mr Dr Luca l am doctor Mineshri Gonzales and l am your daughters doctor"l heard a woman's voice say

I hadn't noticed the doctor had arrived until l heard her speak ,Selena and the boys instantly started questioning the doctor

"Your daughter suffered a blunt trauma on her back which am assuming was caused due to the direct hit from the car and due to that both her kidneys were damaged " the doctor said and for a minute there was complete silence among us

"No you have to save her please" Selena wailed and l felt her pain nobody deserves what Alexandra is going through she is just 13 

"Mrs De Luca l don't your frustrati-"the doctor couldn't finish when Selena interrupted her

"Don't you dare tell me you understand because if anything happens to my baby girl l won't spare you" she glared at the doctor'

"We have to find a kidney donor for her as soon as possible"the doctor said

"I can donate am her mother"

"Even we can donate " the boys said in unison

"The nurse will come to take you to your blood test to test if you could be possible matches" the doctor said walking away

As soon as the doctor left Selena turned to face me fuming in anger

"You must be happy, you are finally going to get rid of the person you hate so much" she said while pointing a finger at me

"I don't have time for any of your nonsense Selena and you are definitely not the one to point a finger at me" l told her while taking her finger down

The nurse came to take everyone one by one to go for the test and when everyone was done including Alexander ,the nurse asked if l wanted to check if l am a possible donor and l agreed but only as a formality because deep down l knew l was not a match because me and Alexa are not related but anyway there's no harm in trying

Time skip 

After 3 hours of waiting my parents, brothers and their wives along with my nephews had also joined us despite the hostility my sons bear for their cousins family always supports each other

The doctor came frantically looking like she had seen a ghost 

"Is something wrong with Alexa doctor"Selena stood looking worried upon seeing the doctors pale face

"No it's not about Alexandra Mrs De Luca"the doctor said but she still looked nervous

"Then what's wrong"l asked 

"Mr De Luca can l talk to you and your wife in private, it's very important"

"You can talk here doctor it's not like Matteo cares about our daughter" Selena glared at me

"Mrs De Luca it's n-" l cut the doctor of before she continued

"Just tell us already "l said suddenly feeling frustrated

"When your daughter was admitted to the hospital she wasn't alone , another girl her age was also involved in the accident "the doctor couldn't finish his sentence when Elonzo interrupted him

"Listen doctor my sister should be your priority her-"he said

"Just let him finish speaking Elonzo"l used my Capo voice on him so that he knew l was being serious

"We checked the girls DNA in our system in order to find her parents quicker and the results matched yours"the doctor said and in one swift move a had her by hers neck 

"Listen doctor l don't know what game you are but l do not have a daughter"l said menacingly to her

"What are you talking about dad have you forgotten about Alexandra" Alexander saird while looking at me in disbelief

"Alexandra is not my daughter l am sorry but l can't hide it anymore" l said as l let go of the doctor

"Mr De Luca l swear l am telling the truth and not only that but both girls were already in our system because they were both born on the same day " the doctor said wiping her face

"Could it be" Arabella my brother Bernardo's wife said probably thinking what we were all thinking

"No no Alexa is my only daughter someone must have paid you to say this , Matteo don't believe her she's lying" Selena said holding my arm but all l was thinking about was whether or not l had a daughter

As we were all still lost in our thoughts the nurse who took our test came and gave the results to the doctor

"Like we suspected none of your blood matches with Alexandra's and infact they show no sigh of oa possible genetics but you are free to take a DNA test of course but as for the other girl your DNA matches hers 99.9999 percent and of course you can also take another test if you have doubts" the doctor said

"Can we see her "Padre said pulling me from my thoughts

"Of course but she is still in the ICU so l'll have to ask you to go one at a time" she said

"I'll go first , l'll know if it's her "l told her as she told me to come along

I entered the girls room and l could feel my heart pounding and when l looked in her face l felt tears flowing down my cheeks because with no doubt l saw a mini me but of course the difference is that she is a girl and the most beautiful girl l have ever met even with her body and half her face was covered by machines she was still beautiful just like who l had imagined she would be before she was born

I left the room suddenly overcome by emotions and my whole family excluding Selena were standing at the door and Madre immediately embraced me and l cried for the first time in years

"My daughter is alive ma ,my little girl was right here and l didnt  even know"l said while getting off my mother's embrace

"Are you sure she is our sister dad" Leonardo looking disheartened and confused

"I am sure Leo she is like a mini me and l can't wait until she opens her eyes"l said smiling through my tears 

"We finally have a girl in the De Luca family "Massimo my other brother said while looking like he couldn't contain his happiness

"Dad what about Alexa she's still our sister and we can't abandone her because we found our biological sister"Elonzo said

"I know son ,go look after your sister and as soon as l know the girl's condition we'll start looking for Alexandra's family because they are possibly the only ones who can be potential donors for her"

Elonzo, Leone and Leonardo left to go find their mother

"Is this real or am l dreaming" Padre said 

"You are finally going to have a granddaughter " Madre told him as she shed a few tears of happiness

"I just hope nothing goes wrong with both her and Alexandra "l said looking at my little girl's room
