“Don’t worry. We won’t say a thing about it. Hurry up and tell us.”

Everyone pushed for the story.

Anna sniggered and said, “I heard that when Mr. Chalk was interviewing him, Mr. Collins, who's here on an unofficial visit, saw how he was being picked on. Mr. Collins was enraged and called Miss Lawson about it. After that, Mr. Chalk was given a good scolding.”

Realization dawned upon Edward. “I knew it. Why else would Uncle Harrison look at me like I’m the enemy and say that I almost got him into trouble? The newly appointed Mr. Collins saw everything.”

“Riley, did you hear that? This isn't my fault. That rascal just got lucky.”

“He should count his lucky stars.” Riley looked terribly upset.

Edward consoled her, saying, “Don’t worry. I’ll find a reason to fire him.”

It was soon after work, and Edward needed to negotiate a contract. He suggested bringing along Riley and the others for a learning experience.

Chase did not plan to go, but as Riley was going, he had to tag along. Af
