Fang II

Michael took a step forward but stopped himself. He couldn't touch her because he was a vampire. The urge to comfort her only intensified. He looked up into her eyes and tried desperately to find some hint that she was just trying to play him for an idiot. Something to show him that she wasn't as strong as she looked.

But there was nothing. No anger. No sadness. Just tears. They fell onto his chest. He was unable to move. Unable to speak. Unable to make sense of what she was doing. His heart pounded in his ears. He couldn't breathe. It felt like she was squeezing the air out of him, physically holding him immobile until she chose to let go. But she didn't seem able to do it either. Her grip remained firm but she did not break eye contact with him. Neither one said anything. Only tears. A few moments later, her hand fell limply to her side as Michael continued looking at her.
