Chapter seventeen - Leanna
I love skiing, it makes me feel light and happy, unlike I have been in ages. It's ridiculous to say but I feel different, like sleeping with Nathan, losing my virginity to him, and confessing my feelings, has given the whole world a rosy glow and I can't stop smiling. I'm fairly certain if I didn't have ski's strapped to my feet, I'd be skipping around like a happy child.
I know we were stupid not to use anything, but I can't bring myself to regret what we did, especially whenever I look over and catch him watching me. I feel like the luckiest girl in the entire world right now.
"Earth to Leanna." Kim rounds on me as we sit on the ski lift, our legs dangling as we leave the ground. "I've been waiting all day for you to tell me what's going on with you and Nathan, I can't wait any longer."

I keep behind Leanna as we go down the mountain, she looks so happy that I don't want to overtake her and not see it. She's always loved these holidays, even the years we were here when she hated me, she would be so happy out here that she'd forget we weren't friends and we could almost skip back into our previous easy banter, just for the week. It was both my favourite and worst time of the year, I loved having her back, but I hated knowing it wouldn't last, it was almost cruel, knowing what we could have had if I hadn't fucked up by kissing her. But that was the past, now, the girl of my dreams is talking about sneaking into my bed tonight and I plan on spending the hours waiting for her, on my phone, trying to figure out what I can do to her to make sure she enjoys it as much as I did last night.

Kim and Jake arrive after breakfast, but my dad's made enough so they sit down and eat with us. It's weird seeing Jake in snow clothes, it should make him look less intimidating, maybe even a bit ridiculous, but somehow he looks just as scary in a puffy blue coat as he does in his regular jacket and jeans. It's no wonder he works at that bar on his own, even drunk adult men can see not to mess with him. Kim's clearly excited about having him here, she's been talking almost non stop since they arrived and he's watching her with pure adoration. The guy might be terrifying, but there's no doubt he's completely in love with her. My mum is crazy, particularly when she teams up with Leanna's mum, but the scariest part of their stupid little prank was that while I was sitting there, being forced to stare at Leanna's horrified face while my mum fake proposed on my behalf, I thought about what they were trying to scare me with and I wasn't scared, not at all. The images rushing through my head at the prospect of spending the rest of my life with Leanna were all good, going to university, living together, getting married, right here at this cabin, having children, I can't imagine wanting to do it with anyone else. But Leanna looked like she was being handed a death sentence and I can't blame her, that's the rational response for an eighteen year old who's only a few days into a relationship, not to embrace it wholeheartedly and want to help with table decorations.

The fact that someone has sent Leanna flowers is obviously bothering her more than it is me because she can't stop looking at the card, even once we get into her room."You could ring the florist?"
