Chapter Eleven

“YES, Dad! I have a boyfriend. His name's Jake."

I heard Caren say in a high voice. She was talking to her father who's on the other end of the line. 

It was Sunday night and Caren was all alone in the house. Earlier today, her Aunt Feling left the house to visit one of her relatives who had an accident and is now in the hospital. The old lady was asking Caren to come with her but the former chose to stay at home. 

I looked at Caren. Her face crumpled as she was listening to what her father was saying at the end of the line. 

I couldn't hear whatever her father was saying but based on the look from Caren's face, they were arguing about her having a boyfriend.
