Chapter 13

I was in full hysterics as I finally broke down and fell to my knees. The heat from the fire kept my face warm as Jet just stared at me. “Just leave me alone.” I requested.

“Ivory. You were given this task. You have to be strong enough to complete it.” Jet kneeled down beside me without touching me.

“Don’t you think I know that? Don’t you think I realize the gravity of my situation? I hesitated because I could have easily given myself up to die to save the whole planet. But I didn’t because I knew it didn’t guarantee he would stop. I’m not stupid, and I don’t appreciate you treating me like a little girl.” I said firmly.

“I make my woman in this pack just as strong as the men. I won’t have a female victim under my watch. I don’t know how to be… sensitive.” Jet confessed.

“I don’t need sensitive. I need understanding. I need encouraging and supportive. I need you to put Carol in her place so I can do what I need to do without worrying you will go back to your ex.”
