Chapter 5

Siana’s world came crashing down in no time. The comfort that she had felt with this guy, turned into fear and disgust in no time. He wasn’t as nice as he seemed for what he held in his hand was Siana’s phone, which was lost at the staircase.

Was he following her? Or did he just happen to go there? But then how did he know it was her phone? How did he find her so quickly?

Several scenarios crossed her mind and each one of them made him more and more suspicious of him. That mischievous smile on his face terrified her and made her want to get as far away from him as possible.

“H…how do you have t…that…?” The fear became visible in her eyes and her voice trembled as she spoke. It just made him feel superior and his smile got bigger.

He stepped closer to her and started swinging his arm that held her phone. “What do you think?” His green eyes sent shivers down her spine and it seemed as if they were threatening her.

Siana backed away in no time and before she knew it she was already leaning against the bookshelf. Her body started shaking from fear as realized the kind of dangerous situation that she was in.

“W…who are you?” Siana gathered the courage to finally look him in the eyes and ask him that question. Her body was in shock but still, she felt some sort of energy enter her body and help her face him.

“Someone who has been following your every move for the last couple of months…” He said and tilted his head slightly as he amusingly watched her react to her words.

Following her?! Siana couldn’t wrap her head around that idea. Why would anyone follow her? She always kept a low profile ever since college started so she couldn’t understand why someone would even notice her, let alone follow her.

“It quite surprises me that you like the rooftop so much.” His hand rose in the air and the fingertips glided on her cheeks. That touch felt disgusting to Siana and she tried pushing him away. However, that just made things even worse.

He gripped her face roughly and made her look him in the eyes. “You say so many interesting things when you’re there…and I know all of them. So you’d better stay quiet or I can easily make your life miserable.”

Once again, his eyes seemed to shine and it made Siana fear him even more. She clenched her fists tightly and tried her best to stay calm in that situation. The grip of his hands around her cheeks loosened and an annoying smile on his face once again as he stepped back.

His hand slid down her arm and gripped around her wrist. The grip tightened until she opened her closed wrists and he placed her phone in that. Once again he stepped closer to her and brought his face near her face. Tilting it slightly, he slowly whispered in her ear, “You’ve caught my interest and now you’re my new target, princess.”

Hearing that voice so close gave Siana chills and she just wanted to get away from him but she seemed to have no control over the situation and her body just froze due to the shock that she was experiencing.

When he got no reaction from her, he chuckled lightly and stepped away from her. This time, he finally walked away from her. And just like that, this person whose name was also unknown to Siana managed to shake her up completely and then disappear between those bookshelves as if none of that ever happened.

Siana fell into the bookshelf and slowly slid down because of how weak her body had gotten. Her hands refused to not tremble and her heart rebelled against giving her enough air. She gripped her clothes and tried to take deep breaths to calm herself down. Before she knew it, her vision got blurry and tears streamed down her cheeks.

Why would he do that to her? She didn’t even know who he was and had never seen him before, he didn’t attend any of the classes with her. So just who was he?! And why was he stalking her like that and even going to the extent of threatening her? And just how much did he know? Was she even safe in her own house?

Once again scenarios filled her mind and each made her more and more anxious. She said on the ground and tried to calm herself down but the anxiety was too much for her to handle and with each passing second she found it harder and harder to breathe.

“Siana…?”

Siana looked in the direction of that voice but she couldn’t see clearly who it was, she couldn’t even make out who it was because the voices came out so muffled to her ears.

A girl stood at the end of the bookshelves who wore a beige sweater over a white shirt that was rolled up and a beige skirt that ended mid her thighs, her outfit was paired with white shoes and her hair tied into a ponytail.

She had a concerned look on her face as she had just walked onto Siana sitting on the floor crying and shaking badly while she tried to catch her breath. She immediately rushed up to her to help her.

“Are you alright, Siana?” She asked as she squatted in front of her. However, Siana was having a hard time to even focusing on what she was saying because of the panic that took over her. Tears kept streaming down her eyes as she longed for more air.

Siana wanted to listen to her but all the voices in her head seemed to be too loud to focus on what was happening around her. There seemed to be buzzing in her ears and it blocked every sound. The negativity took over her and all she thought of were hateful things about herself and her life.

That girl sat down closer to her and cupped her cheeks suddenly. “Siana! Focus on me!” She said loudly in order to make Siana snap out of her panic. “Look into my eyes okay…you’ll be alright” She wipes away the tears from her cheek and then caresses it lightly.

Siana looked at her finally, her breath was still shaky but she was finally out of her negative thoughts. The voice of this girl became more and more clear to her as she returned back to reality. Siana just looked at her closely, her blue eyes mesmerized her and reminded her of the ocean, having a similar calming effect on her.

That girl then held Siana’s hand and placed it on her chest and she placed her other hand on Siana’s chest. “Just follow me okay…take a deep breath in…and slowly release it…” She guided Siana to control her breathing and after a few minutes of doing that, she finally stopped crying.

Siana stared into her eyes, her touch felt comfortable and her voice, sounded like a melody, so calming and soft. Siana seemed to be mesmerized by her but at the same time, she was surprised by how easily this girl had helped her calm down such a bad panic attack. Just her presence seemed to make her feel better.

“You feeling better…?” She asked her once Siana had stopped crying and she got a slight nod in return, making her chuckle lightly. She patted her head lightly and then wrapped her arms around her. She caressed her back in a rhythmic way and sometimes touched her hair in between. She held her just like that till Siana’s breathing slowed down.

Siana rested her head on her shoulder and slowly inhaled her scent, it was just as soothing as her presence. Without even realizing it, she reached her hands out and gripped onto her hands tightly. She didn't want to let go of her cause of how safe she felt in those arms.

“Shhh…I’m here okay, just relax…” That girl whispered into her ear. And before she knew it, Siana broke down into tears again...no one had ever been so considerate and caring towards her. She finally heard the words she had longed to hear for the longest time and that made her weak.

They sat just like that for a long time…just holding each other and finding comfort in each other’s presence. Siana didn’t care about anything at that moment and just wanted to stay there in her arms for she felt like she couldn’t escape all her problems and protect herself.

She forgot everything in that moment cause of how calm she felt, even the fact that this girl holding her was a complete stranger…
