Chapter 3_They either achieve their aim or die trying

He raises his head and sighs warily "Mother, I don't think I will ever be good enough for an Alpha king, the other kinds don't accept me as their superior king. they don't say but I can see it in their eyes." Lucian said.

"oh my child, don't let such thought dampen your spirit, you are more than good enough. they just don't know yet." Liliane assured him.

Lucian was quiet for a while he was not fully satisfied with his mother's suiting words.

Liliane sat on the little space left at the right-hand side of the throne. Lucian made an effort to stand up for his mother, but she held him back.

"No, sit there, she said to him.

this time Liliane pick to massage his head instead.

"you know, your father, Alpha king Almoret Blakewood was just like you. he was very young, brave, and would give anything to protect Akaldama. she said reminiscing over the past.

she continued "The night you were born a full moon appeared out of the blues, it was an unusual night, because that night wasn't a moon night on the celec calendar." Liliane was interrupted by her always curious son.

"Does it have something to do with me? he asked eagerly.

"let me finish, but of course it does, It was said that by the night when the sun goes down. on a no-moon night, a full moon shall appear in the dark sky and shine brightly. the Goddess shall shower her blessings on Akaldama and with it comes a gift. and this gift might be the cause of continual peace Akaldama need or the beginning of destruction it doesn't need. patting his head, she raise her son's face and cup them in her hand making him look directly into her eyes, she smiled.

"Can you guess what that gift was?" she said.

"hmm, more knowledge and power? he said, not trying to make a right guess.

"no silly, it was"

The huge door opened and a boy with black hair that look so much like Lucian but with a green-gray eye run up to them interrupting Liliane.

"Mother, why were you two bonding without me and your brother, don't steal mother away from me," he said hugging Liliane tightly.

"hey pup, do you have to be a spoiler? we were having a moment" Lucian said playfully hitting him on his head.

pouting like the spoilt brat he is, he said.

"Mother, he's calling me a puppy again,"

"Dylan, you are fifteen now, always learn to stay with your brother during the court meetings. you will learn a thing or two, so you could help your brother when you grow older," she scolds him.

"Okay mother, from now on I will stick to a brother like a tree gum," he said joyfully.

"That's my sweetest Dylan," she said.

Dylan grins happily, he loves it when his Mother calls him sweet names. regardless of their family being royalty, she never loses any opportunity she gets to make them bond and loves one another. Liliane knew a time will come when the two of them will rely on each other for survival and she want them to be at each other back and call.

"I heard what happened at the court today, what will happen to Lady Empusa now?" Dylan asked shifting his gaze from his mother to his brother.

the young king stood up from the throne and ruffled his brother's hair.

"I heard how cool you acted, he added admiringly.

"We probably won't ever hear from her again!" Lucian assured him.

but deep down, both Liliane and his son Lucian knew it is far from over. witches are not forgiving creatures once their mind is set on something they never give up so easily, they try to achieve their aim even if it requires sacrificing they're living for it. they either achieve their aim or die trying.

#3 years later

It is the tenth month of the celec year, Latreia Dikhomenia month. when the blood moon rises, The people of Akaldama worship and praises the moon Goddess, they'll pray to her with pure intentions for more health, wisdom, and power.

it was one of these nights that a certain witch was waiting for. with a black cloak on, the coven converges in Eremos cave, a lone cave farther away from the main town. away from prying eyes, candles were arranged around a circle with an angle drawn in it, and the candles burn slowly. loud incantations were being made by the leader of the coven and her fourteen followers chanted after her. she brought out a sickle like a knife from her cloak and slit her wrist with it, she winced a little from the sharp pain that washed over her.

she sprinkle the blood dripping from her wrist into an object, a crown made from the skull, she held it up high and chanted more, this time it was faster and louder as her voice echoed through the cave, thunder claps were heard inside the cave. the cave rumbled as crumbles of rocks started dropping here and there, her coven sisters struggled to hold their stands as they held onto each other firmly.

"Chaos shall raise from the pit of hell," the leader of the coven said casting a spell on the skull-like crown. she made a gesture with her head to the nearest coven witch and she understood without a word being shared between the two, the witch went into the other opening of the cave and immediately came back with a blindfolded teenage haggard looking boy, the little boy had just green leaves around his waist, his upper body bared and a piece of rag stuffed in his mouth, only muffles of sounds make it way out of it, each time he struggled.

the leader of the coven touched the boy's head, and immediately her hand came in contact with the boy, some star-like light shone brightly against her palm.
