Sydney's POV

Mrs. Grayson hugged me again, this time, refusing to let go. At this point, I wasn't sure if she was hugging me for everything I had been through or if she needed the hug herself and just couldn't ask for one. Either way, I enjoyed her embrace, feeling the warmth of a mother.

Since my new life in the Moon Rise pack started, I did my best not to think of my mother. Deep in my heart, I knew that without her maybe I wouldn't be here today. But it didn't change what she did to me. Yes, she saved me from being homeless by sending me to a sister of hers who I never knew existed. But that wasn't the problem.

Why didn't she show me at least a glimpse of this love earlier on? What was so special about this loving gesture that she had to wait until we were never going to see each other again to show it?

Anytime I watched Alexander and his mother, my heart warmed. They argued a lot — two well-opinionated people — but those two never failed to show how much they cherished each other.
