Chapter 16

Kelvin's grip on the steering tightened as he swallowed hard. He knew just how much to provoke his boss. If he went any further right now, it would be game over for him. Everything he had said to Jessica was a lie. Well, they weren't entirely false, but Justin hadn't really been involved the way he had portrayed.

In fact, Kelvin was the one Justin had sent to make the call to the hospital and settle Jessica's debt. While doing so, he found out everything that had happened. The only thing Justin did was tell him they'd get the bag first before picking Jessica up when he reported back.

Jessica looked at Justin. She knew he must be embarrassed by the revelation Kelvin just made. She would have been if she were exposed in such a manner. She smiled and instinctively placed a hand on his leg, saying, "Thank you." His gaze left Kelvin and fell on her.

He wanted to tell her the truth, let her know that Kelvin had just lied, but seeing the smile spread across her face, he swallowed his words. S
