Chapter Fifteen

I take a deep breath as I sink into my comfortable office chair, feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders. The dim lighting of the room seems to match my melancholic mood, as I sit there alone with my thoughts.

"Ashley," I whispered to myself. She had been so sweet and innocent, just like all the other girls who ended up at my brothel. But there was something different about Ashley, something that had caught my eye from the moment I saw her, not knowing she was my daughter. Hmmm, what a life.

"Aunty Maggie?" I hear a knock on my door and quickly wipe the tears from my eyes before calling out, "Come in."

In walks one of my girls, a stunning redhead named Ruby, wearing nothing but a lacy black negligee that leaves little to the imagination.

"Hey, Ruby," I greet her with a smile, trying to shake off my gloomy mood. "What brings you here?"

"I just wanted to check in with you," she says, perching herself on the edge of my desk. "You seemed kinda down earlier, is everything okay?"

I
