Chapter 4

ANTARTI PACK.

There was chaos everywhere.

The Alpha had been murdered in cold blood. It was unheard of in the history of the Antarti pack. And if an Alpha could have been killed with all the security around him, then no one was safe. Athena finished burying her mother where she requested. It was easy since no one was paying attention to her.

After the odd man had left she decided to heed her birth mother she sent a telegram to her best man to acquire as many soldiers as he could and send them to Antarti pack ahead of her camouflaged.

She had already seen about fifteen of them spread out amongst the people.

She lingered around people long enough to understand that the first son the Alpha had sired died in childbirth and the second wife he took after the king's execution had given birth to another son who was now nowhere to be found since the incident happened.

Athena knew the people had been told the first child died during childbirth. The funny part was how she was being referred to as a 'son',  with her ample bosom and slender figure she knew she was quite female. Having heard enough she walked to the steps leading to the Alpha's seat and stood before it.

She knew what the people must see, A woman clad in a flowing yellow dress with white high-heeled shoes, and pearls in her hair. An audacious woman with good taste. The beta and gamma looked just as surprised as the people who had been waiting for Zeus the supposed late Alpha's only living child to come and claim the throne.

The royal guards lunged toward her direction no doubt to punish a mere woman for ascending the place meant for only highly placed people. But three of her soldiers attacked them and within thirty seconds the guards were on the floor hearts no longer beating.

Women screamed, people scrambled out of the throne room, the abled men in the crowd, and the soldiers from Antarti pack began to advance ready to shed blood but stopped short as they saw Athena's soldiers killing the guards who tried to stop her. One by one they came to stand by her. All 75 of them. Everywhere became silent.

With a strong steady voice, she introduced herself.

"I am Athena the firstborn child of the Alpha Caden. I have come back to take my rightful position." She paused.

"As Alpha."

Gasps and murmurs of wonder and disbelief rose in the crowd. It had never been recorded in history that an Alpha werewolf should give birth to a female as a first child. But everyone saw the uncanny resemblance between her and the first queen the heard the Alpha voice of authority in her. But it how was it.

She let the noise die down before she continued.

"Although I never knew my father, you all knew him, Alpha Caden kind, considerate, passionate, and respectful of his people. He entertained complaints from the lowest of ranks. Joined in manual labor and from time to time visited the poor. He was loved by many."

She let the whispers of agreement die down.

"I am nothing like him. I will ask only this once, does anyone have an objection to me being Alpha."

No one dared to say a word. Cowards. she thought silently. Then suddenly she heard a voice coming from the crowd.

"Get down this instant. Who do you think you are."

And the man whom the voice belonged to joined her in front of the throne, rage eminent in his eyes.

As he advanced towards her, five of her soldiers aimed at him.

She halted them with a raise of her hand.

"You worthless bast-"

He began.

"Kill him. Don't get blood on my clothes." And in one swift motion of her soldier's blade the man's head was on the floor.

She looked down and saw the blood at the hem of her gown and looked to the soldier who had done it.

"I warned you." She said and stuck a dagger she took from the folds of her skirt and stick it in his throat and watched him cough and splutter on the floor next to the beheaded man before he even realized she was talking to him.

"Any other objections?" She asked.

The only audible sound was of someone's body hitting the floor as the person undoubtedly passed out.

She saw herself to the late Alpha's room looking around when a footman came in quivering and looking as though he was a hairsbreadth away from crying.

"What?"

"A-a-a m- messenger f-from blue moon pack."

"Send him in." And when the door opened again her nose flared in annoyance and they both said at the same time.

"You."

Alex recovered from his shock first and leaned one shoulder on the wall.

"Fate has brought us together again it seems." He smirked.

"You're in trouble again I see. The Alpha has held you hostage? If not what are you doing in his chambers." He lifted one perfect eyebrow.

"Are you his mistress?"

She did nothing to indicate she even heard him.

"No no you can't be the Alpha's mistress or anyone else's for that matter. You'd scare them away. Not me though, for I am stronger than steel itself." He beat on his chest in exaggerated bravado as he said the last part.

As she took two steps closer to him her expression was like that of a tired angry woman who just entered motherhood with quadruplets. And all four children are crying at the same time.

"Leave."

And with that message passed she turned to go away. But he held her hand.

No sooner than his skin had made contact with hers did he see twelve of her soldiers surround him each with his weapon aimed at his throat waiting for an order from their Alpha to execute.

But she was transfixed as she stared into the eyes of the person who had effectively managed to turn himself into a pest in the short amount of time she knew him. But this time it was wonderful in her eyes as she gazed into the blue bottomless depths of his eyes.  She finally snapped out of her trance and motioned the guards to step away from him.  She looked down to her left arm where his hand was still firmly attached to hers and to the odd-looking ring he had slipped onto her index finger and looked back at him.

She said one word.

"Go."

And although thankfully he let go of her hand and left the room without uttering a word, she couldn't make out what had happened to her when he touched her, but the one thing she did know was that it mustn't happen again.

"Angus."

Her most trusted warrior whom she had upon the ascending of the throne made beta come forward at the mention of his name was more like a whisper.

"My King."

He said dutifully as she had ordered all her subjects too, and bowed before her.

"Rise."

She tried removing the ring off her index finger but it wasn't coming off.

"This is…..?"

She raised her left hand. And showed it to him. His eyes widened slightly before answering.

"It's a ring Porto, the last of its kind." He watched as she continued to try to remove it.

"Don't bother your majesty." He said and she stilled in her movements.

"A Porto is a sign of bond. A man who has it gives it to his cára. You can't take it off."

"What?"

"It seems you have found your-"

"Silence."

He stopped mid-sentence as he heard her calm voice knowing her enough to know another word could get him demoted or worse. She motioned to two more men, and they advanced toward her. Her eyes were void of any emotion when she said
