CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Kelvin's P.O.V

The lunch with the receptionist, Marbella (Mara for short or Mirabel, as she informed me), felt somewhat uncomfortable.

Once I finished eating, I left the cafeteria mainly because of the discomfort caused by the stares and whispers from the other ladies there.

I was used to this attention, but occasionally it got creepy and disturbing. All I wanted was to enjoy my meal in peace, nothing else.

Heading back to the office, I noticed Stephen sorting some things out. She looked up and smiled at me, the same warm smile she had given earlier before I went to the cafeteria. It struck me as unusual, but I didn't dwell on it for long.

Soon, a female staff member informed me that the department manager was calling for me. I excused myself, informing Stephen, who nodded in response.

As I made my way to the manager's office, the staff member who had alerted me latched onto me and gave me a weird smile, which made me feel uncomfortable. However, her appearance wasn't relevant
