CHAPTER FIVE.

FEBRUARY, 25, 2015.

DARK MOON PACK.

(ORLA'S POV)

Where was I?

That was the thought I had in mind, once my eyes fluttered open. I was perhaps in the world beyond. The Moon goddess's world perhaps?

I was dead. Killed by the ones I had trusted the most. I forced myself to sit, relaxing my back on the... headboard?

Why was there a headboard in the world beyond? And why did the room look so much like mine? At the thought, I took a closer look around and blinked in disbelief. And that was because the room looked so much like mine, back at my father's pack. What was happening?

'We've been reborn.' I heard a clear steady voice say in my mind. Startled, I looked around. Was there someone else in the room, aside from me?

"Who's there?" I called out.

'I'm Eva, your wolf. We've gone back in time.' I heard the clear voice say again.

Not dwelling on the thought that my wolf had awakened, I jolted. "I've gone back in time, you say? Does that mean...?" I whispered.

'Yes, you aren't dead.' She said calmly.

And the excitement coursed through me like an inferno. I wasn't dead. The memories came gushing in. The look on Ryker's face, as he watched Ophelia lit the matchstick. I had been too gullible in the past.

That had cost me my life, and the lives of those dearest to me. My parents.

I clambered down from the bed and made my way to the calendar. February 25, 2015.

I had gone back in time, to three years before. According to my memories, tonight would be my mating night. The night that had begun my misfortunes in my previous life. Looking back now, I couldn't help but twist my face in disgust at how foolish I had been.

'I'm sorry I wasn't with you in your past life.' I heard Eva's soft voice say.

A look of amusement covered my face. 'And what would you have done?' I asked, with a chuckle.

There was no response. Just then, someone knocked at the door.

"Come in," I said calmly.

Two servants walked in, with neatly arranged clothes on their arms, and two boxes.

They bowed, and gently placed the items on the bed. "The Alpha has instructed us to prepare you for tonight, Miss." One of them said with a bow.

I sneered inwardly. In my past life, I had been so excited to finally become Ryker's mate.

"Take them back," I said gently, so calmly, it was almost like I was talking about the weather.

"I beg your pardon, Miss? But the Alpha.." the second maid began saying, but I cut her off.

"Take them back. Tell the Alpha I wouldn't be coming down tonight, and I wouldn't like to be disturbed." I said and waved them away. As they left the room, I remained in my position, not moving an inch.

'What are you planning to do?' I heard Eva ask.

'Isn't it obvious?' I retorted.

'What is?' I sensed the confusion in her tone.

'Ryker wanted me so badly in the past, not because he loved me, but because he saw me as a tool to get to the Alpha's position in his pack. The first step of my revenge would be to put him in panic mode.' I smiled cynically, looking at my well-manicured fingernails.

I had been naive, head over heels in love with him. He had used it to his advantage. It's a pity I wouldn't be there to see the look of surprise on his face when I'd be absent from the mating ceremony.

Such a pity. But of course, that was only the beginning. More were on their way.

...

The wind blew through the trees, making whistling sounds, playing with the leaves on their branches, and leaving a cold feeling on my body.

The moon hung proudly and beautifully in the sky, casting a bright light on the darkened pack. I took off the last piece of clothing on my body, and standing in my nude glory, I sighed.

'What next, Eva?' I asked calmly.

We were in the woods, and I was about to shift for the very first time. I couldn't help but feel exhilarated.

'Crouch on your fours, and let go of yourself. Give me control.' she said.

'And how am I supposed to do that? Give you control I mean?'' I clicked my tongue.

'Just crouch.' she said.

No sooner had I done as she instructed, did I feel the change. It was indescribable. Pain tore through my limbs, however, it was temporary.

In a few minutes, everything changed. My sense of hearing sharpened, and I sniffed lowly. It was like being in an airplane, and you were the pilot. Eva was my plane.

In this case, however, the plane had a mind of its own. She took off, and I relaxed, giving her total control. The wind whizzed through my fur, the trees a blur.

It was fun.

An hour later, we were tired. 'I think it's enough to call it a night. We could have another race tomorrow.' Eva suggested.

'My thoughts exactly. We can go back now.' I seconded.

The shift took a few seconds, and it was less painful than the first. I quickly dressed up. I looked up at the sky with a solemn expression.

The mating ceremony was probably over. Did it even hold? They must have been looking for me in my room, and not finding me, they must have gone back.

No one would have suspected that it was in the woods. Why? My wolf hadn't awoken in my past life. I hadn't shifted even once. How would a wolfless lady like me wander to the woods?

I looked up at the sky and muttered a silent prayer. 'Thank you Moon goddess. I'd sure make use of this great opportunity.'

I was going to find love....and repay all those who hurt me. In a thousandfold. And I'd do it in a way that'd leave them wondering where they had gone wrong.
