~Kara's POV~
Sitting on the docks overlooking the calm river under the town's bridge, I stared into oblivion as silent tears dripped down my face and I travelled in my thoughts.
Today marks exactly a decade since my Mom left, on the October 14th 2005, and left me a pink box, this pink box which I have kept with me since forever.
Holding it now as memories flooded through my vain mind, memories of the day at the flee market, when we have bought everything the box now contained.
The last time she read to me, our hide and seek that very night before she left with a man who bear the mark of the group I dread the most... Vipers...
Everything seemed to be happening so fast after then, and now here I was ten years after she had left, broken and still in search of answers to why everything had to happen the way it did.
Opening the box, I found a locket that had a picture of bot
CONTINUATION FROM CHAPTER [2]...~Kara's POV~"I'm sorry darling, I'm going to come back soon...I love you so much sweetheartBe good for Mama...Mom!."After reading the letter, I just had a nostalgic feeling, I didn't know how to get by all alone but then I decided to take no thought for tomorrow, and go back to sleep and hope that somehow all this is just a bad dream, and when I wake up, I'll be in Utopia.***October 15th 2005...Knock! Knock!I heard a sound from distance, shaking out of my position, and opening my eyes as rays of sunlight streaming in from the window blinded me.
CONTINUATION FROM CHAPTER [7]~Kara's POV~"I'm sorry Dad." My voice was raspy and choked from my tears.Picking up the case files again I hurled it into the air, screaming and cussing as papers flew out and landed on the wet sand. One of the pictures that flew out caught my eye.Wiping my eyes with the back of my hands, I went over and bent on one knee to gather the wet papers back together. I found the picture after gathering all the papers back together, sniffing I watched it being carried away with the water. I quickly went over and grabbed it before it was fully immersed into deep waters.Raising the picture so I could look at it, my heart beat stopped when I saw it... How come I didn't see it when I first opened the files...***It was a picture of a weapon, a gun, a
~Kara's POV~This dress is so tight... I thought to myself as I wiggled and tried to straighten the dress out on my hip."Sure you'll be fine on your own?."Nana asked as she pulled into the Sterling Enterprises parking lot."Yeah I guess, thanks again..." I said to Nana. She won't be able to attend Lance's welcome party today, because she had a late shift at the Gazette. So I'm gonna be stuck here alone, well with Lance till whenever this party ends."By the way you look really pretty in that gown.""Thanks." I replied courtly as I felt my cheeks turn crimson. She had purchased this dress for me at a thrift store close to our apartment. It was the last of it's kind, and it was place for auction, I wonder how she was able to pull that off. Anyways I'm so happy she got it for me."I have something for you Kara!." She had said to me as I not
Three years ago...~Lance POV~Today was my parents 13th wedding anniversary, so they suggested we just have a nice family dinner, well since my Dad always came back late from work, the dinner was till little after dark so he could meet up.Three years ago when they were celebrating their tenth, we had had a grand celebration here at the manor in honour of a decade, but this year was different they wanted it quiet and just the three of us in attendance.Lately my dad has always been preoccupied with work, and he had not been able to spend time with us, so today was just like a family get together or reunion. It was already 6:39pm, dinner was scheduled for 7:15pm, I had nothing to do and my Dad wasn't yet back from work, my Mom however was downstairs ensuring every was in perfect order.I decided to put on one of my favorite outfits, even if it was
~Lance POV~"Hey Lance, please would you come out of your Father's... Study now?." My Mom asked in a pained raspy tone.I'd been in here for the past three days, since my Dad was put six feet under. It just wasn't the same no more.No more late night conversations, no more Saturday golf practice, no more father-son time, no more don't tell your Mom.He is gone forever. Now I know what it feels like to lose someone, they leave a hollow feeling in your life that you can literally feel in your heart.I literally felt like I was twisted and turned inside out. I couldn't feel nothing save for the numb and hollow feeling like something was definitely missing in my life. And yes, something was...Did I say something?... I meant someone!.When we returned from the funeral I just didn't want to see no one no more, I honestly wished I'd died alongside. The
~Lance POV~"You'll have to try harder than that!." Kara said to me as she blocked one of my blows.I smirked and lunged at her.We have been practicing and training for the unknown, we just believe that when everything goes down and the puzzle finally fits properly, we'll need all the fighting skills we can summon.Drew had taken it upon himself to ensure our training goes well, but he took a break few minutes ago. Kara and I decided to continue. We were training at the roof top my manor, it was leveled and had a wall barricade around, the view from up here was perfect. I did my best to make sure I didn't look over the edge because that's when I realized how high up we were and it was sorta scary.Through several grunts, tackles, quacks, blows, blocks and locks, Kara finally pins me down..."Tap out, I've got you this time!." She exclaimed as she breathed
Seven years ago..."You still haven't told me where we are headed yet!." I whined."The sooner you stop asking questions, the sooner you'll find out!." Daniel said to me calmly.I'd been leaving with him for the past three years now. Since he took me from my home after my Mom left me. It's been three years now and she hasn't reached out to me, not even a phone call.Daniel keeps saying she'll come back soon, soon, soon, soon, three years has gone by now and he was still lighting the torch of hope in my life. There's only so much an eight year old can take in, I still haven't seen my Dad, I don't even know what he looks like and the most painful part was that he was still alive. Then my beloved mother... I don't even want to think about her right now.Well Daniel right here, has been my senior and responsible brother for the past three years, he ha
Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say goodnight till it be morrow- Shakespeare.***Continuation from chapter 18...***"I'm sorry ma'am but you can't go beyond this point!." The nurses said to me as they wheeled Nana on a stretcher into the emergency ward surgery theater. How did my life result to this?.One moment we were finding clues in a hidden dome and the next we were in a hospital, watching one of our own having a close call.As the doors to the surgery room closed and doctors and nurses rushed in to begin surgery on Nana, real horror struck me as I watched from the glass. What if she doesn't make it?.
