At lunch Tuesday, I sit down and almost immediately Ethan says, “So have you heard about Emmett and Six?” My head snaps up.
“What about them?”
“I heard from Liz who heard from someone on the football team that he asked her out and she said yes.” I consider momentarily that it could be a rumour. But why does it matter? I am trying to convince myself that I don’t care when Jameson says, “Bro, you’re gonna break a tooth if you keep clenching your jaw like that. If you care this much just go talk to her.”
“I don’t care,” I say as I glare at him.
“Who are you trying to convince? Us or you?”
