A Broken Family

Keisha felt so devastated. She kept blaming herself for what just happened to her grandmother and their house. She watched them pick up her grandmother's aches. Her eyes were filled with tears, Her heart was so restless, she felt so pained unable to understand life. Carmilla went closer to her daughter, she covered Keisha with a blanket as it was cold that night. Keisha sat on the ground, deep in her thoughts. Carmilla hugs her daughter in comfort.

 " sweetheart, it's not your fault. I know it's hard to accept that, she's gone, Carmilla sobbed. But we need to be strong now that, we have lost everything we had.

 " why mom? she turned to Carmilla. Grandma didn't deserve to die such a Cruel death! So much as happened to us! but I never thought that grandmother would go just like that! whoever is behind the fire has to pay mom! she cried.

 " Don't worry much dear, as long as we have each other, nothing will break us. I just don't know where we will be staying now. Lisa and her mother, heard Carmilla worry about where they would be staying. Lisa's mother, went closer to them.

 " Carmilla, please don't worry about where you will stay, my house is open to both you and Keisha. Now that, everything is gone, you are free to join us. We are like family here on this island. You and Ms Maria have helped me and my family a lot. 

 " Vasha, Carmilla stood up. We don't want to be a bother to you, Keisha and I will figure out something.

 " come on Carmilla, it's late now! where will you go! my house is just right there, please I Insist. Lisa, bring Keisha inside, she told her daughter. 

 " thank you so much vasha, I promise we will leave as soon as we find a new home. You have a big family, you already have so many responsibilities. 

 " it's alright, come on we are friends. Just come with me. 

Adam arrived home that night. His family were all waiting for him. They acted like a perfect family in front of people, but in reality, they were not. Especially Adam and Patricia, they were not happy in their marriage.

 " honey, you are home, Patricia went to hug Adam. Adam gave a half smile before he went to hug his daughter, Katherine. He noticed that his son, Joel was not present. So he asked Patricia.

 

 " where is Joel! Patricia went quiet, she tried to out a smile on her face.

 " uh.. you must be tired Adam, why don't you freshen up then join us for dinner.

 " Don't tell me he's not yet home at the hour! 

 " Well, he will be home soon, I called him, traffic you know, she smiled at him.

 " Once he gets home! I need to have a word with him at once! Adam spoke heading inside the house. 

 " can I go to my room now! Katherine said.

 " we talked about this! be in your best behavior! 

 " I just did Mom! he didn't even suspect that am drunk! she laughed hitting the wall.

 " oh God, Patricia shook her head. Fine! just go! he might find out if you stay here! take her back to her room! she ordered the nanny.

Adam sat Quietly on the bed. He was so furious especially finding out that, Patricia had someone arrested. He was regretting ever marrying Patricia. It was a forced marriage, Both their kids turn out to be worse than Patricia. 

 " Adam! what took you so long to get home! Patricia walked into their room.

 " it's none of your business! now you tell me! why did you get someone's child arrested! For what reason!

 " Don't start with me Adam! he tried to force himself on our daughter! our Kathy!

 " seriously! and you believe her! you know exactly how Katherine is! how she dresses! what she does!

 " why shouldn't I! She's my child! she was telling the truth!

 " call her right now! I want to confirm! Patricia knew that, Kathy was drunk, she might end up telling the truth to her father.

 " no need! she's sleeping! they have exams tomorrow! it's true! everyone confirmed that it's true! So you believe someone else and not your daughter!

 " Your daughter! not mine! She acts more like you!

 " and Joel? he's your look alike! what do you have to say about him! Why are you so impossible Adam! you don't love your children anymore!

 " They should act more like my children! All they do is ruin my reputation! because of them! I lost many business partners! especially you Patricia! you are the main reason for my failures! Adam walked out of the room. Patricia threw everything on the cupboard in anger.

 " This man is driving me crazy! I know he is cheating on me! I will find out eventually! she breathed.
