Valerie arrived the following morning with her dress torn at the hem and her bra hanging at an unnatural angle; her wig was shoved under her armpit and one leg of her heels, broken.

She looked like she had been swept away a hurricane or properly robbed and beaten and the only reason why I wasn’t too bothered was the stupid grin on her face.

“What happened this time?” I asked, staring pointedly at her as she collapsed with a sigh on the couch.

“You will not believe the craziest night that I had” she grinned, kicking her feet back.

“I will believe anything you tell me because you are crazy” I told her.

“I went to see a man and before you begin lecturing me about the woes and dangers of going to see men that I do not know. I left you a note on the fridge bearing his address and his…”

“You left me a note?” I started in surprise.

She stared at the confusion on my face and then laughed
