Moving

I left the room with a heavy heart, knowing what I had to do. Slowly, I packed at my shoes and stuffed them into a big box and began then move my things. Each item I put outside the room felt like a piece of my life slipping away.

“Are you sure about this, Luna?” Zara's voice was soft as she watched me pack from outside what's now Damon's room. She was holding a large red box that had all my books.

I nodded, unable to meet her gaze. “I have to do this. It's for the best.”

Once everything else like the dirty clothes, files and documents was packed, I moved to the other room. It felt strange to be in a new space, unfamiliar and empty. But I knew it was necessary for my own sanity.

“Do you need any help arranging your stuff?” Normally, she wouldn't have asked, but I guess she saw how alone I want to be at the moment.

“No, I think I can manage,” I replied, trying to sound more confident than I felt.
