Chapter Fifty-eight.Diana's pov.Darkness. Silence. Peace…I didn't know how long I was out, when I finally came through, I groaned and held my head in pain. I was on Luke's bed so I propped myself up on my elbows.Luke sat beside me with worry etched on his features, as much as the candles he had lit shone on his face,“What happened?” I asked as I looked around, the orb was still glowing atop the pedestal and I peered at Luke for an explanation.“I was about to ask you the same thing,” he chuckled. “What did you see?” I was confused until everything came crashing back to me in full force, everything I had seen; The lady, the dead people, the wolf, none of it made any sense. “I don't… know, it's all jumbled up, scattered,” I answered through the pain in my head.He stood up from the bed and brought over a glass of water for me to drink, I declined as water wasn't what I needed. I didn't know what I needed though but it wasn't water. “I should just go back now, maybe I'll see you la
Chapter Fifty-nine.Alaric's pov.Preparations for the ceremony haven't even started, you can even get the whiff of celebration in the air but I was already tired. My father had held a meeting the night before where he had addressed the ministers on the development of things or rather the talking of things— How there was disturbance to the supply of goods to the upper city as well as the palace. Those werewolves have been stirring trouble ever since but it had always been minor, nothing too big yet.The king had put them in their place quietly and we hadn't heard of any disturbances again, so we could get back to discussing the ceremony.Although I would have said making use of the imperial guards was a bit too much, which I did, but, my father had informed me that they weren't that fazed by the normal guards and so he needed to exert dominance."THEY SHOULD KNOW THEIR PLACE OR THEY MIGHT JUST GET HURT." His words not mine. But I could tell my father was angry, not at the werewolves
Chapter Sixty.Diana's pov It's been a few weeks now and my ‘future’ visions have been letting up, at least that's what I'd like to call them. They've made my life a living hell and made me look like a crazy person, shaking my head every time just to swipe them away.Out of mind out of sight, right?I was on my way to the queen's chamber, I won't be escorting Merilyn to the briefing as it was not needed anymore, my duty was fixed. I waved goodbye to Merilyn, she had no idea how much better her work was, I had to be walking on eggshells around the queen and still made some errors according to her.“Are you okay?” I snapped my head to the side as Sarah came up to me with a look of worry and suspicion, “You've been acting all jumpy lately.”Sarah had really been a good friend to be, we had bonded and I was glad she was around even though I thought I couldn't trust her. I was just being suspicious of everyone since I came back to life and they had tried to put me down again.I'm glad I c
Chapter Sixty-one.Diana's pov.I stormed my way towards the West wing as I needed to fix whatever this was. I couldn’t focus, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't work, my life was an entire shit show before, now it was going deeper down the drain.Luke did this, he must have a way to fix it, all my hope was on Luke now. If I couldn't get it fixed and stop these flashes I didn't know how I was going to live, I couldn't even understand the stupid visions anyway and my mind was always chaotic to even think about them.It was still day time when I heard someone whispering in the hallway. I wouldn't have been bothered if I didn't hear my name, “She came back to life and you think the best thing for you to do is chase her down, and do what exactly? Kill her again?” I could recognize Emily's voice as she berated.“Don't bother about her, I'll make sure she leaves this palace one way or another, with my child coming in, I have the upper hand with Prince Alaric, but the useless bond keeps getting i
Chapter Sixty-two.Diana's pov. After leaving Luke's quarters, I had been thinking of a way to leave the palace. I could just walk out but I needed to take permission from Mistress Beatrice which was where I was headed. The Queen hadn't asked for my presence ever since the spilling incident, I didn't mind though, I just wondered whether or not my punishment would be coming.“Miss Beatrice?” I called out to her as she turned, her black hair packed in a bun, not a single strand out of place, her stoic expression still there. I didn't think I'd ever since the lady smiled before. “I was wondering if I could take a break, I need to…” I let the words trail off, I should have come up with a better lie before approaching her.She raised a questioning brow, “You need to what?”I thought for a bit before I spoke again, “I need to visit my mother, she hasn't been feeling too good and it looks like it has gotten worse.” Oh dear moon goddess, please forgive me and keep my mother safe, I said a sil
Chapter Sixty-three.Diana's pov.“Miss? We are here,” the driver woke me up from my blank stare as I gazed out the window, I glanced around and then stared at the man through the rearview mirror.I was this close to dozing off, putting myself in risky positions like this would one day get me killed, he could have kidnapped me.I doubted this was the place, “Are you sure this is the right place?” I glanced around again and cross checked with the address Luke had given me.The driver was irritated, no one driving in the middle of the night would be happy about it, “Yes miss, this Dyna lagoon, there's no real lagoon here if that's what you're looking for.” I feigned an expression like I wasn't looking out for an actual lagoon. Well, I am going to stop thinking of seeing a lagoon.I got out of the cab and then paid him before he zoomed off. How I was going to get back to the palace was a mystery to me. I took deep breaths before bracing myself to see a witch.I turned around and a feeli
Chapter Sixty-four.Luke's pov.I had dealt with the guard and Diana was able to get past the gate and out of the castle, I prayed the witch would be able to fix her though.I didn't know where the orb had broken or if the king had anything to do with it that would have caused such a reaction from Diana, it was still a mystery to me.The guard didn't want any trouble with the king and let me go. I made sure no one was watching and continued on my stroll to the pavilion on the other side of the castle. I had received a letter from the queen after which I burned it.The letter contained a location and that I should meet her there. This was the first time we would be meeting out of prying eyes. She didn't want to risk putting us in trouble with the king, having met the man face to face, it was understandable. We had always just acted like strangers anytime we saw each other, I would bow in greeting while she nodded, side eyes on walkways and the rest, it wasn't my intention to continue l
Chapter Sixty-five.Diana's pov. What she had said had unnerved me but I pushed it to the back of my mind as I followed her to wherever she was taking me. I observed the house and it really wasn't what I had thought a witches house would look like.“Sit, I'll be right back,” she ordered before she disappeared behind a door.I sat quietly and continued to look around, she didn't return for a while and I began to think of something else; What if she ran away? That couldn't be possible, this was her own house. With the silence in the room, my doubts continued to rise until finally she walked out of the door and into the room, I breathed a sigh of relief, “Oh, thank the stars, I thought you left me.” She gave me an incredulous look which made me revert back into myself a bit, “Why would I leave my house for the likes of you?”I didn't say anything to that as I knew she wouldn't offer me a straight answer. She placed a purple vial bottle on the table, “Give me your hand,” she exasperated.
