Jace / Chap. 15
I took the lead, and Zed followed closely while Cade stayed behind with the Omega so she wouldn't hurt herself more. I practically had to fight my Wolf as he begged for his mate, scratching at my skin to go back and stay by the female's side. But I shoved him down and took full control, focusing on the mission.
I pushed forward and forced my legs to stretch as far as they could, covering as much distance as possible with every stride.
It took me a matter of minutes to reach the village, but the strong scent of blood and burnt flesh got me long before I was able to see the silhouettes of the buildings. It didn't take much more to understand what had happened.
I skidded to a stop at the very border of the village, and my paws were instantly covered with ash and dust. Zed arrived shortly

The fire danced before my eyes as I starred intently into the flames. The day ended up to be a total waste of time; Cade and the Omega had done nothing but search through the girl's burnt house searching for whatever and then buried the mother. As expected, they couldn't find anything that wasn't too damaged by the flames nor any survivors and had to give up the search. Luckily we were able to find some extra clothes in one of the houses so the girl wouldn't be stuck in a barely covering blouse stained with blood. My muscles were a little stiff when I woke up the next morning, but a quick stretch warmed them up nicely. I yawned, but quickly covered my mouth when I realized I was the only one awake. I absentmindedly watched as Cade guided the Omega towards the river, a bag of supplies at his shoulders. It seemed like the more time he spent with her, the more he acted like her escort or some pimp trying to woo a pretty lady. My gag reflex kicked as soon as the content of the bowl landed onto my tongue, nearly choking me to death. As I coughed and spewed the stew onto the ground, Cade was quickly at my side and made sure I wasn't actually dying. I managed to tell him I was okay between two coughs, waving my hand for him to stay away so I wouldn't vomit on him. It took a good minute before I managed to get a hold of myself and breath normally, but the stew and lots of my saliva was already spilled onto the ground. The next few days felt like an eternity. We travelled non stop, only resting a few hours at a time to sleep or hunt. Considering our hunts were mostly unsuccessful do to lack of prey, hunger was starting to worn the Pack down. We managed to find a good place to rest overnight, but we were in the very middle of rogue territory and not just any kind of rogues; slave traders. These lust-minded freaks seek out for rejected females, loners or any good looking Wolf they can find to sell as a sex slave for high prices. Even children and pregnant women were up for grabs, which means the pack had to be extra careful to hide me from such disgusting filth.To make it all worse, Alexandra's appetite had grown and Pack rules forced me to let her eat first; she'd practically gobble down every small prey we could find and leave mere scraps for the others.Surprisingly, she and the Omega got along like two peas in a pod and blabbered all day about everything and nothing.
